334 years ago today, in Salem Village, a warrant was issued for Martha Corey.
By this point, accusations of witchcraft were already spreading— and Martha had been named.
The warrant outlined claims that she was tormenting members of the Putnam and Parris families, along with others in the village.
Officers were instructed to bring her in for examination at Ingersoll’s Tavern.
What might seem like a single accusation…
was part of something much larger beginning to unfold.

Salem’s Witch House – A Step Back in Time
Day 18 of my birthday month… and today felt like walking straight into history.
The Witch House in Salem is actually the former home of Judge Jonathan Corwin — one of the magistrates who presided over the infamous Salem Witch Trials of 1692. What makes this place so powerful is that it’s the only structure still standing in Salem with direct ties to those trials.
Inside, you get a glimpse of what life looked like in the 1600s — from dark wooden interiors to traditional Puritan living spaces — a reminder of just how different (and intense) life was during that time. The house represents a period fueled by fear, religious extremism, and mass hysteria, where accusations alone could determine someone’s fate.
Standing there, it’s hard not to reflect on how easily fear can shape reality — and how important it is to question, to think, and to lead with truth.
Grateful for moments like this during my birthday month — learning, exploring, and soaking in history with a deeper perspective 🤍
Salem nights that you want to last forever🎃🧙🏼♀️🧛🏼🧟🕷️🕸️
Day 8 of my Birthday Month — The Witch House in Salem 🕯️
Today we visited one of the most chilling and historically important places in Salem — the Witch House, also known as the Jonathan Corwin House. What makes this place so fascinating is that it’s the only structure still standing in Salem that has a direct connection to the 1692 Salem Witch Trials.
Built around 1668, the home belonged to Jonathan Corwin, who served as one of the judges during the infamous Salem Witch Trials. During that terrifying period in colonial history, more than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft. Of those accused, 19 people were executed by hanging, one man was pressed to death with stones, and several others died while imprisoned.
Although the actual trials took place nearby in Salem Village (modern-day Danvers), many of the early interrogations and investigations were conducted in the homes of magistrates like Corwin. It’s believed that some of the accused were questioned right here inside this house.
Walking through the rooms today gives you a glimpse into 17th-century Puritan life — low ceilings, massive wooden beams, and dark colonial architecture that feels frozen in time. The house was later preserved and moved slightly from its original location in the 1940s to protect it from demolition, allowing visitors today to step directly into one of the most dramatic chapters in American history.
What makes visiting this place so powerful is realizing that the Salem Witch Trials were fueled by fear, religious extremism, superstition, and community tensions. It’s now remembered as an important lesson in the dangers of mass hysteria and injustice.
Another unforgettable stop during this birthday month adventure — and definitely one of the most haunting pieces of American history I’ve ever walked through. 🖤✨
