There’s a reason Lilith started at the Gorge. There’s always been something in the air, a presence in the canyon, magic in the Columbia River water.
I used to think I felt that way because it’s my home state venue…like how people from Colorado feel about Red Rocks. It’s a pilgrimage, but it’s life-changing.

No one plays a normal show at the Gorge. That stage asks for the best show you’ve ever played every time. Bonnie, the Indigo Girls, Sheryl, Brittney, Wynonna, I’m With Her, Sara, The Highwomen, Allison and Linda are all probably still recovering! These women put in joyful 12-hour days from line check to encore to make sure what we were offering from that stage was something beyond a concert.

This goes for the band and crew too. The work that world-class band did lasted for months…I was on the text thread! Lol 64 songs! We had storms and heatwaves and the time of our lives. I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate the extra energy and love that everyone working for and with us put into the Echoes Through the Canyon weekend.

But the fans are MVP in my opinion. There’s nothing easy about the Gorge. It’s not just the artists stepping outside of their comfort zones — it’s tens of thousands of people camping, walking, and just FINDING a way to be a sacred part of something powerful.

I saw all women sell out the Gorge in 1997 and ‘98 with @officialsarahmclachlan 🫶🏻 and Lilith Fair.

I was only a teenager. Now I have a daughter who’s almost a teenager and she’s seen it too. Some history just needs to repeat itself.

Thank you to EVERYONE who made it possible. We built a show — but you made the pilgrimage.

Should we do it again next year? Or take a year off? lol
