Louis Khan’s cool ass chimney that’s pulled away to let afternoon sun in. From the inside, the tall window frames the stucco stack. Really the sexiest suburban box, commissioned by “a single woman” aka Margaret Esherick. The one bedroom takes up the second floor. No pix allowed on the tour, but plenty are online. Light floods the house in interesting ways. Second archival pic is Ezra Stoller. IDK the first... Perfect fall day in Philly, with a lil hike and a tomato pie tailgate 🍁🍅🌞 by @1.800.sam

There’s a mystery literally surrounding the oldest house in Chincoteague, built around 1800 when the island was transitioning from pastureland into a community of homes and farms. A couple uncovered it in a dilapidated state covered in vines and rotted weatherboard back in 2009 when they thought the structure could make for a good storage shed. They soon learned that it’s a rare example of American architecture with log planks and dovetail joints at the corners. The home also counts as one of only two buildings standing in Virginia with a wood chimney, which was surprisingly common back in the day lol. But what’s most fascinating are these early sailing ship carvings all over the exterior logs. No one knows who made them and why!!! ⛵️⛵️⛵️ by @1.800.sam
Labor Day Weekend. Chincoteague by bike. Sunrise on the marsh. Mortadella sandwiches at the beach. Today’s catch at Ricky’s or Gary Howard Seafood. Oysters at the dock for happy hour. Dinner on the porch. by @1.800.sam
quick lil trip home to california 🍇🌞🍇 remembered how amazing @pinnaclesnps is with caves, condors, and chapparal hills. the watsonville super taqueria always hits. cheering on @alex.eala together in front of the tv. and catching on breath on the steepest gd hike in the redwoods, but there was bay laurel everywhere so it smelled like adobo lol. by @1.800.sam
A lil summer seafood situation in Seattle 🐟🐟🐟 We saw this beautiful wild king salmon from Bellingham Bay and had to get it. Meyer lemon + dill. Seasoned with @sanjuanislandseasalt and their madrona smoked pepper. Albacore’s in season locally, so @gabescarlett whipped up this bonkers crudo with dill and pickled green peppercorns. For crudo no. 2, I raided Gabe’s pantry: plum relish, Calabrian chili, lemon, and sesame oil. by @1.800.sam
Kayaking in the San Juans, an archipelago of 170 islands in Washington state, crossed off the bucket list. Lots of oysters, berries, and sourdough. 🌞🦪🌊 by @1.800.sam

Lotus maxxing rn 🪷🌞🪷 It’s peak bloom through August at @kenaqgardens. Photographers, TikTokers, and Asian families are out there in full force. Saw some goths too. Love the energy of everyone making pictures and basking in the beauty. Who doesn’t want a selfie with a flower the size of your head??? The pinkish variety is the East Indian lotus, descended from seeds recovered in 1951 from the dry bed of a lake in Manchuria. The National Park Service induced the seeds into germination, and they are believed to be among the oldest viable seeds ever discovered at possibly 650 to nearly 1,000 years old. by @1.800.sam
Fallingwater at the beginning of rhododendron season. Must be wild now. Some photo notes for inspo. Our basement kitchen has butter yellow cabinets too. These ones look great with Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic/fav Cherokee Red floors. by @1.800.sam
