I am not one to post often never mind something personal however I want to raise awareness of some of the conditions I have overcome in the last 6 weeks. It started off in November when I got a nursery virus during which when I coughed I would hold the back of my head in pain, which I now know is a red flag for a mass, once the virus had passed I never continued to have balance issues where I continuously felt drunk without drinking. This occurred for months I would also get a lot of headaches and sickness with them. Initially I was misdiagnosed by a GP and it took a trip to the Nuffield at York and an MRI scan to reveal I had a tumour causing a sizeable cyst on my brain. On the 13th June I had brain surgery at the LGI in Leeds to remove the tumour and drain the cyst. All went with either a couple of hiccups and I was discharged 6 days later. However sadly that was not the end of my hospital journey 32hours later after the worst headache of my life I ended up in Scarborough hospital with post operative bacterial meningitis which was scary as it can quickly turn life threatening. I did not have a rash as gets mentions with meningitis symptoms. After 10 days in Scarborough hospital on IV steroids and antibiotics my original surgery wound started leaking Cerebrospinal fluid which is not a good thing and I was transferred by ambulance back to the LGI in Leeds. After a few interventions that did not work I ended up having a second operation to reveal open the original wound and restitch and to insert a lumbar drain in my spine to draw the fluid away from my head. That has been successful so far and after a total of 4.5 weeks I have finally been discharged from hospital and beginning the recovery process at home. Shoutout to @101iana for solo parenting a toddler that whole time. I am very lucky that my tumour was benign. Be aware that Brain tumours are the biggest killer of children and adults under 40 and are the most under researched cancer. Great to be back @ardrockenduro and catch up with all our mtb (and trials) friends! Always a pleasure to race dusty trails in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. A little off the pace on the day but made the Vet podium . Big well done to @seanrobinson84 for taking the Vet win 👏

Epic Enduro was an incredible experience that I won’t forget! With a 4.15am start, riding the first couple of stages (one of which a former EWS stage) with lights was one of the highlights for me.
I entered not knowing i could finish and there were many points throughout the day when I thought I wouldn’t. Some of the stages seemed just as brutal as the climbing! Time cut off we’re also tighter than expected so there was no time to stop - just get get to the top, goggles on a roll straight into the stage. Just over 14hrs on the bike (including neutral timing to top of stage 1) 🥵Thank you @bauster87 being the support team 🙏 and the team @velocaroux for pushing me way out of my comfort zone with this incredible event.

Tough day at #scotttrial 2024. Two punctures and freezing rain in the afternoon made it that little bit harder. Well done to all finishers. My hands have never been that cold in the Scott before!

Great weekend at Ae forest for the National champs. Stacked field of riders so happy to take🥈in the vets. Congrats to @kylehayes_mtb taking the win. 😀
