We are grateful to @govkathyhochul for the extraordinary $10 million investment in critical infrastructure updates to 14Y’s building, which will allow us to continue serving future generations of Downtown New Yorkers and meet the needs of our growing Jewish community. We are also thankful for the support from UJA and our state and city governments. We will be sharing more in the future about the important ways that Council Member @harveyforny, Senator @briankavanaghny, and Speaker @julmenin have also worked to ensure major financial support for this project.

Today, more Jews live south of 59th Street than on the Upper West Side and Upper East Side combined & more than 7,000 Jewish children live downtown. From sold-out events to growing waitlists, it is clear that our community is hungry for Jewish life programming and connection. They want a place where they can belong, celebrate, and engage with Jewish life in both traditional and new ways. We have responded with more innovative Jewish programs, strategic partnerships, and engaging and thought-provoking events than ever before in 14Y’s history. And with Governor Hochul’s generous gift, we can continue to sustain and strengthen Jewish life in Downtown Manhattan and bring neighbors, families, adults, and seniors together who might otherwise not connect. by @14streety

Still thinking about our Shabbat dinner on October 9 ❤️

14Y Selah and @laba.nyc gathered for The Blessing of Enough, bringing our two communities around one table for an evening of art, storytelling, and Shabbat. Members of the LABA community shared their creative expression, while members of 14Y Selah shared personal stories of addiction and recovery. Through listening, singing, and welcoming Shabbat together, we had the chance to get to know one another in a deeper way.

There is something tender about sharing your story and trusting that others will receive it with care. We are grateful to everyone who offered a piece of themselves that evening, and to everyone who listened with openness and compassion. Those moments of being seen and heard are at the heart of the community we continue to build.

The Blessing of Enough invited us to pause and consider what it means to be enough, even while we are growing, healing, or finding our way. Around the Shabbat table, there was room for the stories we carried and the people we are becoming.

Thank you to LABA and to everyone who joined us. You helped create an evening of warmth and belonging, reminding us that we each have something to offer and that none of us has to navigate the journey alone.

A few weeks ago, I was invited to join @14yselahcommunity for Shabbat dinner. The whole evening was magical, but connecting with a new community was definitely my favorite part. 💛

There’s nothing better than getting to know people over a meal, sharing stories, and ending your night by singing and dancing together. ✨

14Y Selah is a Jewish community for people in addiction and recovery and those who love them. You don’t have to be Jewish or follow a particular recovery path to join. This community is for everyone. 🙏

If you’ve been looking for community in NYC, @14yselahcommunity is a great place to start ✨

Thank you, @senkirstengillibrand, for stopping by our Sirovich Center for Balanced Living as part of the Senate at Your Stop Tour!

We were grateful to welcome Senator Gillibrand’s team to connect directly with older adults in our community, answer questions, and help them navigate federal agencies and access important resources and services. by @14streety
