A legacy of love. A place of hope. A commitment to community. 💚 The ReJoyce Engagement Center (The REC) was founded to honor the life and legacy of Joyce Mallett—a beloved educator, musician, community leader, and elder whose passion for serving others continues to inspire us. More than a tribute, The REC is a resident-powered space dedicated to healing, dignity, opportunity, and belonging. Created for the people of Detroit’s Eastside, we are committed to building stronger communities by sharing resources, uplifting one another, and creating opportunities for every person to thrive. Joyce’s legacy lives on through every life we serve. This is more than a center—it’s a movement rooted in love, hope, and community. 💚 #ReJoyceEngagementCenter #CommunityFirst #HealingTogether #DetroitEastside #freestore by @16300harper

Thank you to the kids & adults who donated canned goods! Shoutout to NorthEnd DR for donating shoes, clothes & hangers! Shoutout to my lil brother Josiah & Levi — no pictures, but they were definitely the muscles behind the scenes! 😂 Thank you to the kids who helped us stock, organize & clean! Special thank you to the woman who brought a Gleaners donation, dish liquid, food AND blessed us with $10! That $10 helped us purchase more cleaning supplies for the community. 🎉We’re just stopping by to appreciate our #ActivateHarper food coalition members: @royalfreshmarkets @whittier_bodega @badkitchencatering + @therealmamadee_ ❤️🔥 Every two weeks since our soft opening, @royalfreshmarkets has been keeping our fridge + shelves stocked with frozen foods, snacks, and essentials for our 48224 babies. Every Tuesday, @badkitchencatering pulls up with hot food, fresh veggies, and her famous eggrolls, keeping folks fed while setting up shop with us. @whittier_bodega has been a Day 1 food rescuer + deli provider, helping us make sure good food keeps moving through the neighborhood. And @therealmamadee_ is new to the block, but already keeping us fueled on restock days from inside @royalfreshmarkets. 🔥❤️ This is what community food infrastructure looks like. Not charity. Collective care. #ActivateHarper #FoodJustice #MutualAid #48224 Detroit The Cafe/Lounge area (seating) will be closed tomorrow as we sort through all of the items recently donated.
