POSTS STORIES REELS

We look forward to welcoming you on October 4th, 2–6 PM for a reception and the chance to meet the artist.

Rick Fichter: O’Shaughnessy’s
A solo exhibition of black and white analog photographs taken in the early 2000s in an Irish pub called O’Shaughnessy’s, located in the northwest Republic of Ireland. While living and working there as owner and bartender, Fichter began imaging and immortalizing the local patrons by requesting their permission to sit for their portraits. These compelling images are accompanied by astute written observations of their personal interactions with him and what the patrons were willing to share with an ‘outsider’ in a small town. For those steeped in the Catholic tradition, the lighting, seating, and framing of the patrons evoke a confessor/penitent encounter, albeit with respect and impartiality.

This exhibition will open October 4th and run through November 29th, 2026, with the artist present from 2–6 PM on opening and closing dates.

HANA IBRAHIM , Featured on the front of our exhibition’s postcard. Take a look back in case you missed her work in our past exhibition, Adrar Inu.

Hana Ibrahim is an Egyptian-born, NYC-based fashion designer and multidisciplinary creative. She uses photography as part of her design process, capturing images that build visual landscapes for her collections and creative practice.

This selection of photographs were taken throughout Hana’s hometown of El Hussein, Cairo, in the places she returns to most often. The Images look closely at the everyday details of Egyptian life that easily go unnoticed: familiar spaces, textures, objects, architecture, people, and ordinary moments.
Through a perspective shaped by distance and personal connection, Hana finds inspiration in these familiar surroundings and the details within them that might otherwise be overlooked. The photographs became a form of visual storytelling and textile research, informing her thesis collection, I Am from Hussein and Hussein Is from Me, while documenting the place that shaped her early life. by @201at105

The second artist we are highlighting this week is Adrar Inu artist, NAAIMA ABD ELHAMEED.

Naaima Abd Elhameed uses her lens to capture the world around her, paying close attention to light, emotion, and movement as a form of storytelling. Inspired by virtually everything and everyone, she explores portrait and event photography while finding her greatest excitement in street photography. Her aspiration is to continue taking her camera to different parts of the world. After all, it’s always her and her Sony.

This collection features some of her most cherished street photography to date. From New York and Egypt to Abu Dhabi, the images capture a variety of colors, contrast, and composition, all in service of redefining how we experience the world around us. Each photograph was chosen with intention, with the hope that it makes you feel something.

Whether through music, visual art, or literary art, everything she creates is a reflection of how she perceives the world. Adrian is interested in creating pieces and experiences that merge creativity and innovation. In this exhibition particularly, she highlights Black and queer aesthetics inspired by Blood Orange’s discography.”

ALYSSA SANCHEZ

“Alyssa Sanchez is a Puerto Rican artist based in New York City. She has a BFA in Fine Arts from FIT and is also an alumni of Highschool of Art and Design. She is currently a private school art teacher and a fine artist working with other art professionals such as the Collective 27.

Her work could be summed up as a woman’s lived experiences through color and emotion. She creates drawings and paintings of these women in mostly still positions with expressions that include the heavy contemplation women do every day, including herself.

She does draw inspiration from her own life, hugely from her emotions and familiar everyday settings. Within these paintings are taino symbols, often in plain sight, related to Borinquen/ Nuyorican culture. Frequently used is the Taino sol, related to her grandmother and the energy of the sun. There is a sense of nostalgia seen in almost every piece. Her palette consists of a plethora of purples, magentas, and reds. On occasion they may dominate her palette but altogether she still balances them out with a range of colors that can add depth to certain expressions.
She is also naturally drawn to textiles and sculpture.

She currently makes stained glass sculptures also focused around color and feeling. All of them are smaller works that each feel like a world in their own right. When she is not painting women she is creating elaborate, detailed textile work on rice paper that takes the emotion/color and translates it into a natural organic flow of water. Each piece is a different body of water.

Her work varies widely and she spends most of her time sorting her lived experiences and pouring them into each medium in the hopes of answering lost questions and relieving the weight of strong emotion.“

MAI ALSEWAIFY

Mai Alsewaify is an Egyptian multifaceted photographer influenced by the cultures she’s lived through, usually drawn to cinematic storytelling. This series reflects the past 10 years since moving to America, the longer she’s been here, the more she’s found herself missing home and realizing how much it’s shaped her.

Featuring images from Cairo dating back to 2018, each photograph holds a piece of that journey: memories of people, places, and moments that have carried her through change. Together, the images speak to resilience, identity, and the ways home continues to live within us, even from afar.

FATIMA SADOUKI

In Adrar Inu, Fatima Sadouki’s practice moves across media to trace the textures of memory and the promises we attach to what comes next, holding nostalgia and techno-optimism within the same frame, letting the warmth of what has passed inform a hopeful reach toward what might still arrive.

Inside that tension, she examines loss and isolation alongside their quieter counterparts: the joy found in ordinary routine and the deliberate construction of a whimsical, self-authored life shaped by the feminine mystique.

Formally trained in engineering, critical theory, humanities, and science across Stevens Institute of Technology and NYU, Sadouki finds joy in studying the visual arts. Much of this draws on the experience of growing up mixed race and between cultures, where identity is assembled across time rather than simply inherited.

At its center, her work holds a single refusal, resisting the capitalist narrative that frames a life as a fixed trajectory toward a single predetermined end. In its place she offers a model of selfhood that loops, revises, and accumulates meaning, finding the sacred in the mundane and the expansive in the small, healing the inner child and tending a garden for their future.

UPCOMING SHOW: ADRAR INU translates to ‘My Mountains’ in Tamazight. It is the title and the point of departure for this group exhibition at 201@105 Gallery.

Artist Reception: JULY 11, 6-9:30

The phrase, ‘I left my mountains’ carries a deeply personal significance, rooted in my family’s history. ‘Adrar Inu’, the song by the late Idir, a legendary Algerian Kabyle singer songwriter resonates with my mother, who is from the mountainside.

There is a voice that travels everywhere with me, memories left behind where I was born in Algeria and later emigrating to America with my parents. Here I share my language with only a few. continually reshaping my identity. I think of an onion plant that keeps getting cut. Each time, something new pushes through, in spite of the cutting. That root continues to grow.

This exhibition, that I guest curated, is about that kind of resilience and the particular joy of working alongside others, who came here like we all did, sharing that sense of struggle, emigrating. The works presented here by 8 other emerging women artists are evidence of minds at work and of stories that find mediums that ground them. To move and grow between worlds is to become fluent in translation, a language of noticing. The artists gathered here have each made that journey, across oceans, across languages and across disciplines and have made it their own.

Adrar Inu is guest curated by Anaïs Bouchatta, a 2026 graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology.

AWA M.M. KAH

In Adrar Inu, Awa M M Kah presents her practice as a photographer and videographer of Gambian and Senegalese heritage. Raised across nine countries, she found in the arts her main outlet for creative expression, with her wide-ranging experiences shaping a deeply personal artistic lens.

It was upon moving to the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa, that Awa first had the opportunity to explore her creativity in a new way. There, she launched what would become her first photoshoot, African Skaterboy, capturing the emerging skate scene on the African continent through a collaboration with a fellow student. The project sparked a deeper inquiry into what it means to create as an African creative.

Central to that inquiry is a quote from one of her inspirations, Ousmane Sembene: “L’europe n’est pas mon centre” — “Europe is not my center.” These words became the core of her practice, directly inspiring her photoshoot Mon Soleil, in which she centralises African modesty as a Muslim woman herself.

Awa has since graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering. Alongside her individual practice, she is a co-collaborator with the art collective Collectif Defar, extending her work into shared making.

The Sue and Al Show
Sue Ravitz & Al Ravitz

Artist Reception: April 28, 6–9 PM

April 30 – June 28, 2026

201@105 Gallery

We’re excited to present The Sue and Al Show, a look into the deeply personal and evolving practices of Sue and Al Ravitz.

Sue Ravitz and Al Ravitz bring decades of lived experience, collecting, and visual sensitivity to their shared exhibition at 201@105 Gallery. Raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Sue developed an early foundation in craft traditions, later evolving a rigorous exploration of color and pattern through textiles, rugs, and painting. Her work reflects a sustained investigation into color relationships, informed in part by years of collecting reductive, monochrome art.

Al Ravitz, who grew up in Detroit and spent 30 years as a psychiatrist at the University of Chicago before relocating to New York, began painting more recently during the pandemic. After a lifetime of collecting and responding deeply to visual environments, his abstract work embraces a non-narrative, intuitive approach shaped in contrast to his clinical practice.

Together, the Ravitzes have cultivated a life immersed in art.. as collectors, curators, and founders of @57w57arts . The Sue and Al Show highlights their distinct yet complementary practices, united by a shared commitment to perception, material, and the emotional resonance of abstraction.

We look forward to welcoming you on April 28 from 6–9 PM for a reception and the chance to meet both artists by @201at105
