A ‘Folklore Night’ hosted by The Witch of Edmonton team!
We can’t wait to show our love & appreciation for folklore - especially with Samhain just round the corner - and what better way to show this love than with a fundraiser for our play, which encapsulates the very essence of folk-horror?

BEWARE THE WITCH! 🌚

The Witch of Edmonton is a 17th-century folk-horror play, first performed in 1621 and written by William Rowley, Thomas Dekker, and John Ford during a period of intense witch-hunting and persecution in England.

We begin our journey in Edmonton: a small, rural village where an impoverished, elderly woman named Elizabeth lives on the fringes of society. We soon learn that the village has begun to deem Elizabeth an outsider - a witch.
But what happens when a woman is taunted, abused, and pushed to the other side of the veil? Pushed into the uncanny - into the supernatural?
The village has God to call on. A patriarchy. A community.
Who does Elizabeth have? Who can she call on?
A play full to the brim with English folklore and witchcraft, arcane magic, mysticism, visceral drama, and experimental theatrical elements.

The Old Gods are here. They always have been.

Audition packs are available via our Linktree. 🌚
Audition dates are week commencing the 28th of September, Wednesday and Thursday.
