First day of Kindergarten for Lanii. 🥹

I swear we just blinked and that tiny little girl became a kindergartener. Watching you grow is one of the greatest gifts, but I really wish time would slow down just a little. I wish we didn't have work today and could've been there to get you on the bus.

Have the best first day, Lanii.

Moving you into St. John’s this past weekend was definitely an emotional roller coaster for me. On one hand, I could not be more proud watching you grow into a man and finally getting the chance to live out something you have worked toward for so long. On the other hand, I don’t think I realized how much I was going to miss simply being around it all. I have been at just about every game, every practice, every bullpen and every step along the way watching you grow into the player you are today. Baseball has been such a big part of our lives for so long that I think I took for granted how much happiness I got just sitting back and watching you and your teammates grow together.
What I am going to miss the most probably has very little to do with the actual games. It is watching you switch from the quiet kid you are off the field to the fierce competitor that comes out of you when you step on it, seeing the little things that make you laugh, smile or get fired up, watching the way you interact with your teammates and seeing friendships and a team develop right in front of me. A lot of that stuff never makes it into a picture, a video or a stat line, but those were always some of my favorite parts. Now that you are at this level, I know I am not going to be there to see all of it anymore, and I think that is probably the hardest part for me to get used to.
You have already been through a lot of what baseball can throw at you. You have had success, failure, injuries, pressure, competition, great days and days where nothing seemed to go right. None of that is new to you. The difference now is that everything is going to be magnified. The talent is better, the competition is tougher, the expectations are higher and nothing is going to be handed to you. There are going to be times when you are playing great and times when you are going to have to fight through things that test you mentally and physically. Just remember that you belong there. You earned the opportunity, but now you have to keep earning it every day.
Enjoy every second of it. Take it all in, and go make the most of it. Love you Buddy by @401tank
