Void Tokyo Vol.11 は、Perceiving the Void (探る視点)

VoidTokyo Vol.11, under the theme “Perceiving the Void,” is a volume that captures present-day Tokyo from a variety of angles through the individual viewpoints of fourteen photographers. Photography is not simply an act of recording the city, but also of grasping for something that can only be found within it. Preserving that starting point, VoidTokyo continues to layer on even more diverse perspectives with this, its eleventh issue.
Fourteen photographers view Tokyo from different generations, different sensibilities, and different distances; their perspectives intersect within a single volume, bringing the current state of the city to light.
Even when looking at the same Tokyo, the scenery that appears differs from photographer to photographer.
VoidTokyo Vol.11 is a provocative volume in which intersecting and at times overlapping perspectives manifest on its pages.

I am participating in an exhibition in Chongqing, China from August 16 to November 30, 2025.
It is a great honor to show my work alongside the legendary Japanese artists whose precious works are gathered there.
YIJI Gallery itself is also wonderful, with beautiful light throughout the space.

YIJI Gallery's latest exhibition, Trace of Existence, brings together works by six photographers spanning more than half a century-Eikoh Hosoe, Masahisa Fukase, Issei Suda, Daido Moriyama, Nobuyoshi Araki, and Masato Seto -alongside pieces from a new generation of image-makers, to reveal the layered imprints photography has left across different contexts. It is not only a reflection on history, but also a dialogue on how photography bears witness to existence. by @4ck_hendrix

The landmark 10th volume in the series, VoidTokyo Vol. 10, reprises the motto, “Perceiving the Void,” which inspired the inaugural issue. VoidTokyo’s photography is not just about capturing images of the streets, but about grasping that which is unique to the city. VoidTokyo returns to its roots.
VoidTokyo Vol. 10 features four new members: Kohei Kudo, Kohei Kitamura, Kyosei Yoshiike, and Tokio Nose. Their differing perspectives, spanning generations and sensibilities, intersect with those of existing members, Joel Pulliam, Johan Brooks, Tadashi Onishi, Tadashi Yamashita, and Tatsuo Suzuki, offering a fresh perspective on how Tokyo “looks.” Each photograph intertwines with the others, bringing to light the city’s current shape. This is a highly refined volume that reflects the vision of VoidTokyo today.

by @4ck_hendrix
