Today called for blue skies and getting our steps in on the trails 😎 We ventured out to the Genesee Valley Greenway trail (at the entrance in Avon) and did a little over two miles! I had a gap in my schedule today and just said “the heck with it”, loaded Hersch up, and off we went! I think I need to have some more spontaneity in my life, it’s kind of nice to not have absolutely everything always scheduled out in advance. And another throwback just because I want to share some favorite pictures of Hersch 🥰 this was from last spring when we tried a local disc league! It was a lot of fun, but not the right sport for him, but I’m really happy we were able to have the experience 😊 We also really broke in the car doing these meets 😂 it got so muddy on the inside from our runs always being done in a field. This was around when we really started putting miles and adventures on the good old ‘Trek @subaru_usa 🫶🏻 #subaru #subielove #subielife #subarulove #subarucrosstrek #subarucrosstrek2016 #2016subarucrosstrek #dog #dogsofinstagram #dogmom #pitbull #pitbullsofinstagram #pittie #pibble #apbt #americanpitbullterrier #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #subarudogs #discdog #ecollar #ecollartechnologies by @4pawtrekking
Hi everyone 👋 My name is Rae and welcome to this silly little account for my adventures with my dog, Herschel! Some info about us: 🐕 Herschel is a 7 year old APBT/Staffy that I adopted from a local shelter in 2018 when he was 4 months old. He was seized from the city where he was found locked in a cat crate in a shed. He struggles with some fear based reactivity and generalized anxiety but has come a very long way from where we started. 👩🏻 I am a 25 year old surviving purely out of spite just trying to enjoy life 😂 I’m a type one diabetic, avid photographer/videographer, and delightful sarcastic smartass. I’m also a balanced dog trainer specializing in ecollar training (shoutout to @ecollartechnologies for having the best collars out there!) 🦄 in addition to Herschel, I also have horses and a leopard gecko, and another dog named Reign 🐶 🚙 my car is a 2016 @subaru_usa Crosstrek lovingly named Shania (after Shania Twain lol). She’s the color Desert Khaki and has a delightful 141,000 miles on her, about 15k of which I put on in the last year since I got her on Valentine’s Day 2024 🫶🏻 I believe in balanced training, with heavy emphasis on communication and relationship building between dog and human. I do believe in the humane use of tools such as ecollars, prong collars, muzzles, etc. I also believe in letting dogs be dogs and feeding them as such. Herschel eats a well balanced partial raw diet, which I’m sure I’ll post plenty about as well as our training and such. If you read all that word vomit, thank you and welcome! I’m excited to post here and share lots of canine content 🐾 See you all soon! 🤍🤍🤍🤍 #dog #dogsofinstagram #apbt #pitbull #americanpitbullterrier #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #subaru #subaru_usa #subarucrosstrek #ecollar #ecollartechnologies #ecollartraining #reactivedog #reactivedogsaregooddogstoo by @4pawtrekking
💣 NEEEEEEEEW ACHIEVEMENT 💣 You and your canine companion successfully got out of the house and did something fun! With other crawlers and their canines 🐾 Just don’t let Princess Donut know that dogs were out catching discs and having a good time 🤫 Rewaaaaard: you’ve received a disc dog loot box complete with a snazzy t-shirt to commemorate the day you took your APBT mix to a sport dominated by Aussies and border collies. At least he *tried* to make an effort and didn’t just cry on the field the whole time 🤷‍♀️ (For anyone who hasn’t read Dungeon Crawler Carl this will make no sense but just vibe with me anyways 🤣) Gear used on our crawl 😈 🧡 @ecollartechnologies mini educator 🧡 @canadapooch cooling bandana 🧡 Water & Woods slip lead 🧡 traveling safely in our @subaru_usa 2016 Crosstrek and @dakota_283_kennels kennel #dungeoncrawlercarl #dogsport #apbt #ecollar #dakota283 by @4pawtrekking

Well hey! Long time no post 👋 Lots of things have been going on that social media has been pretty low on my priority list 🤪 But here we are with a lowkey effort for me to try to keep documenting all things Herschel because I love having this account to look back on, kind of like my own Herschel themed diary of all of our adventures and things. I think next post will be a more in depth recap of our spring and summer so far but for now our latest development is working on our car kennel setup with our lovely orange @dakota_283_kennels kennel 😊 feeling quite proud of our matchy-matchy game and I’m so glad I could get a kennel to keep our orange vibes going, and very thankful to have an extra safe ride for my most precious cargo 🧡 #dakota283 #kennel #apbt #dogsofinstagram #americanpitbullterrier by @4pawtrekking
In case you’re in need of something to send to your sweetheart today, Herschel and Reign are here to help 😘 #valentinesday by @4pawtrekking
Don’t know how this is possible but wishing a very happy eighth (!!!!) birthday to my beloved Herschel Marie 🧡 It’s so insane to me how much we have both grown in our almost 8 years together and what an incredible dog he has become, especially within the past year. It is an absolute privilege to have such a dog that is equal parts challenging and rewarding. He has been a big part of shaping me into the person I am today. Happy birthday, bub, I love you more than you will ever comprehend 🫶🏻 #rescuedog #dogbirthday #apbt #dogphotography #americanpitbullterrier by @4pawtrekking

2025 was overall not my best year, but I think Herschel had a pretty good one! Lots of adventures had and some new places explored ☺️ hopeful for a new year full of even more dog fun and only continuing to grow and strengthen our relationship 🧡 Herschel and I’s gear used throughout 2025 🍊🐾 🧡 @ecollartechnologies mini educator 🧡 @nonstopdogwear line harness & protector booties 🧡 @furforgecollars tactical collar 🧡 @creekside.dog biothane leash and training collar and leash tab 🧡 @reins_for_rescues paracord leash 🧡 @mias_muzzles vinyl muzzle 🧡 @canadapooch cooling bandana for summer adventures 🧡 @wilderdog training pack 🧡 @carhartt coat 🧡 @blue9petproducts Klimb & treat pouch Traveling safely in our @subaru_usa Crosstrek and human powered by @omnipod 🫶🏻 #rescuedog #dogsofinstagram #balanceddogtraining #adventuringwithdogs #t1dlookslikeme by @4pawtrekking
I unfortunately had to skip out in a family holiday gathering today because I’ve got something illness-wise going on. A trip to urgent care this morning for what I thought was a double ear infection gave me no real answers (not an ear infection, not strep, not covid), the doctor pretty much told me to take cold medicine and drink lots of water. I don’t really feel sick aside from a little sore throat and my ears hurting 🤷‍♀️ so I took Herschel out for a short stroll around one of our favorite areas on family property. We had some nasty freezing rain last night so things were very crunchy but I think he had a good time ☺️ Always traveling to and from our destination safely no matter the weather in our @subaru_usa 2016 Crosstrek 🤍 Herschel’s gear: 🧡 @ecollartechnologies mini educator 🧡 @carhartt collar 🧡 @nonstopdogwear protector booties 🧡 FITS LTD coat from @state_line_tack #subielife #rescuedoglife #apbtofinstagram #hikingwithdogs #exploringwithdogs by @4pawtrekking
