#FreeCongo is more than a hashtag. A silent, ongoing holocaust leaving over 20 million dead, and over 6 million women victims to rape. This isn’t something that has just come about recently. This has been happening for longer than I’ve lived. Going on for so long, longer than the world wars and yet, not many people know about it and why it’s happening. Women exploited for sex. Their lives threatened if they do not do what they are told, constantly abused if they so much as resist. Underscoring the dehumanisation and objectification of women. Beautiful, real human beings, abused by monsters. Violence and mistreatment towards human beings is essentially what many different governments are co-signing, such as the USA, UK and France providing military aid to Uganda and Rwanda. The fourth slide shows four pictures of those who are responsible for this, those who have the blood of many Congolese people on their hands. This isn’t just about a hashtag. It is about the human beings that are forced into slavery by rebel groups for resources used to produce things such as phones and electric cars. Our people literally suffer at the hands of inhumane people, just so the world can continue. How can you help? You can help by learning more about what is going on, and by spreading awareness. You can also donate to any fundraisers you see or contribute to humanitarian causes within DRC, and share those fundraisers around. There has been silence around this for too long and we cannot let this continue. These people are the future of Congo, and they need you. They do not deserve this. This is about peace and justice. 🇨🇩✊🏾🩸 The last two slides contains information of pages you can follow and charities you can donate to. You can also follow @congofriends, @standforcongouk, @congoleseactionyouthplatform and @genocost for more updates including future protest dates. Thank you and God bless you. 🙏🏾 #StopTheGenocide #CongoIsBleeding #CongoGenocide #FreeCongo #RwandaIsKilling by @8.jonn

Swipe to see how my first ever 10K went... it was an absolute movie! 🎬👉🏾 If you told me this time last year that I’d be crossing a 10K finish line, I would have laughed. I started running to look after my health. It was out of my comfort zone, but what started as a chore quickly became a hobby I genuinely enjoyed. Running for a cause was always on my bucket list. I even told my cousins in our group chat that I wanted to do it one day. Just weeks later, @revivecongo (a charity I’ve followed since 2018) announced a fundraiser run for the youth of the DR Congo. As a Congolese man who speaks passionately about issues in our country, this hit incredibly close to home. I signed up immediately. Then, the craziest week happened. On Wednesday 16th September—just three days before the race—I went for a routine tempo run. With zero expectations, I set THREE PBs in one session! I broke my 1-mile PB in lap 1, beat that again in lap 2, and walked away with new 1-mile, 2-mile, and 5K (31:17) records. By race day on Saturday 19th September, the stage fright was very real. I usually don’t like major attention, and standing at the line, it hit me that people would be watching. But with the incredible energy from the stewards, bystanders, fellow runners, friends, and family, I pushed through the nerves and ran the entire 10K from start to finish. And the results? We absolutely smashed the records: ⏱️ 5K PB: From Wednesday’s 31:17 down to 29:25 mid-race! ⏱️ 5-Mile PB: From 55:44 (set 10th Sept) down to 48:02! ⏱️ 10K PB: Previous best was 1:13:07 in March. Crossed the line in 59:50—sub 60 mins! Meeting the team and other passionate fundraisers was an absolute highlight. Thank you to everyone who cheered, supported, and donated. This is definitely not the last time you’ll see me on a race course! 🇨🇩❤️ 🔗 If you’d still like to support, the donation link is in my bio! • • • #ReviveCongo #DRC #10KFinisher #FreeCongo #RunThroughUK by @8.jonn
