I didn’t regret my decision when I chose to quit to be a SAHM...but we lost $2,000 a month.
It wasn’t small. That was security. Predictability. Breathing room.
And I was scared.

Living as an ohana of 4 wasn’t cheap.
There were nights I questioned myself. Wondered if I made the right call.
But standing there at her first birthday. Fully present watching her walk around.
I knew. Money can be rebuilt. But the time lost is gone forever.

But what made that moment even more meaningful and amazing to us?
Her first birthday was possible because we finally had structure with our money. Not luck. Not extra income. It was structure.

That season is how we started with 101.
Not because everything was perfect but because something had to change.

If you’re in a season where income shifted or you chose ohana and now feel the pressure. You’re not crazy. You’re not behind. You just need a plan.

Aloha family

I want to share a little bit about our journey with 101 Financial and how we got to where we are today💙💚

When I first attended a 101 Financial workshop, I didn’t follow through. I thought, “I don’t need this,” and honestly, I doubted myself. Fear and ego held me back, convincing me that it wasn’t for us.

I wasn’t the best at saving or budgeting. My early 20s were filled with nights out drinking after work, going to raves with friends and spending hundreds of dollars on weekend adventures. Who doesn’t want to explore and find themselves in their early 20s, right? Even though I was a teen mom at 19, I still had those moments where I just wanted to have fun and enjoy life while still being a mom. Looking back, I splurged more times than I care to admit, leaving myself close to broke at the end of it all.
Fast forward to a few year later. Just married with two kids to care for, living in my in-laws' house as Chase's grandfathers caregiver. Life was tight. Then, quitting my full-time job hit us hard—losing $2,000 of income every month was no small thing. The financial pressure was real, and we were struggling to make ends meet.
That’s when I remembered 101 Financial. This time, I approached it differently.I thought,“What do I really have to lose? Garentee refundable.”We were already in a tough spot, but I realized there was so much I could gain—not just financially, but in knowledge, skills, and hope for my family’s future.
Enrolling was one of the best decisions we ever made. It wasn’t easy at first especially with the cost of the courses, but as I learned, I began to see the work we were putting in helped us reach everything we planned. Kaiao's first birthday was the first big expense we were able to do because of 101 Financial. Little by little, we were able to navigate through the hardships and paid off over 30k in 2 years going 3. The tools and strategies we gained empowered us to take control of our finances and our future.

Now, we're passionate about helping others in similar situations. If I can do it, so can you. Sometimes, the hardest step is just deciding to start.

Life already has enough ways to knock us down with Hurricanes and inflation.

Debt should keep us there.

I know what it's like to swipe that card, pay that minimum only to look at the balance like...

“WAT? DAS IT?"😩

Til i learned a different way to approach our debt after becoming 101 stWudents.

We learned,
We applied it.
We stayed consistent.

And eventually, balances went from Barely Moving to PAID OFF IN FULL.

It's not magic.

Or an overnight fix.

Learning real life strategies, applying them to how you do your money, and staying with it.

So my question to you is...

“How much better could your life be, if you learned this too?"

That's what we talk about in our free workshops.

With my sprained ankle, my family is going to have less income on this paycheck.

But instead of stressing out, I’m going back to the 5 steps I’ve learned over the years as a 101 Financial student and coach to take control of our money.

These are the basics

👉🏾Know your Numbers.
👉🏾Follow the Flow of your Money.
👉🏾Be Honest.
👉🏾Adjust and Allocate.
👉🏾Stay Consistent is Key

I’m sharing this because your current financial struggle doesn't have to be your life forever.

You’re allowed to miss work to heal your body.
Take care of your family.
Have a bad week.
And still have a plan for your money.

We all use money every single day.

So why not learn how to manage it in a way that gives you more breathing room?

Follow along. I’m sharing more of the simple things that have helped our family get out of paycheck-to-paycheck living. 💙

Last week, I twisted my ankle taking Kaiao to school.

An ER visit later.
And a week off of work.
Means less income this month for us.

And honestly, it made me think about how proud and appreciative i am for having a clear system that I can always turn to in situations like this.

I probably would've said:

"I fucked up, now what?."

"How are we going to pay this week's bills?"

"We can wait to buy groceries, yeah?"

"What are we going to do about the money we're losing?"

You know the normal questions you'd ask while stressing out in pain, unable to do work or in my case as simple as walking.

But....im not.

I know we have enough.

I know exactly where my money is going.

And even though this month's paycheck will be smaller, I don't have to panic.

I can actually rest and recover.

I can focus on getting better and taking care of my family without the added stress.

Because sometimes financial freedom doesn't look like having more money.

Sometimes it looks like having enough structure and preparation that when life happens, you have room to breathe.

You don't have to sacrifice your health and your peace just because life threw you an inconvenience.

Daily preparation and planning with your money can make a big difference when it matters most!

That's part of the freedom we continue working towards everyday. 💙💚

Knowing there’s so much to do can make it hard to slow down.

The to do list will still be there
The work will still need to get done
There will always be something next.

But don’t forget to rest.
Go have fun.
Enjoy the day.
Spend time with the people you love.

Fill your cup today, so you have something to pour from in the week ahead. 🤍

You don’t always have to be productive to be moving forward.

Let's have a great week Lāhui 🌺

I've been pretty disconnected most of the summer.

Honestly... it's been heavy.

Heavy with baking. I took on some of my biggest orders yet with 3-4 days of prep, I'm so proud of how my baking and recipes have grown.

Heavy with saying goodbye to loved ones. Grieving, loving, showing up for family, and holding on to our favorite memories.

Heavy at work. Going full-time, stepping into a Lead role, creating specials and realizing I haven't cooked as many dinners at home.

Heavy with friends walking through both their darkest and brightest moments. Learning where I fit in their lives. Answering the Hail Mary calls without hesitation, even if i'm pouring from a cup that not quite full.

And can I just say...

FUCK CANCER.

It's been a season of grief, growth, reflection, and resetting.

Some days have felt overwhelming. I have learned to scream and cry it out to help me get through the day. Others have reminded me just how blessed I am to have a life so full of people worth showing up for.

The chaos has been exhausting, but it's also been meaningful.

I'm slowly finding my way back... and finding the beauty in the worthwhile chaos.

So stick around because life stops for no one, all we can do is shift our focus and keep swimming!

We have 5 more months in 2026, what do you plan to accomplish before the year is over?

The past few months have been challenging in many ways but mostly as a time to slow down as the foundations of my life are starting to pivot ✨

I have been unlearning all that don't serve me in my dreams of a better future in this crazy expensive and ever-changing world.

I want more adventures with Chase and the kids, so they know to explore with respect, show kindness and always learn new things.

Be creative, I've been having my baking and Lei making mojo come alive again and though I have been spending money to experiment in many things🤑🫰🏾 ya girl just has to jump on my 101 system to double check if the math was mathing. And it's been giving me the "green light" lately.

Let the curiosity of life become a passion you follow til you got the answer you was looking for by experiencing it. Failures, anxiety and quitting can be thoughts but always remember your WHY!!

And don't forget the people you love and cherish in life, deserve to know how much they mean to you 💙 call them, laugh, plan, catch up, sent morning memes, any little and big thing you can think of. I've made it a point to check in more with old friends I see living life's ups and downs. Celebrate with them and support from afar.

I know the stressful and negative of everyday things can bring us down but you can't let it define your life because your more extraordinary than that.

Stay blessed and have a great summer Lāhui! 💙 by @808_kcbrown_
