Two wrecks. One tragic night ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด In 1944, the 116-meter German freighter Ferndale, carrying ammunition and supplies, accidentally ran aground on Seglsteinen Rock. The Norwegian rescue steamer Parat was sent to assist, but while the two ships were alongside each other, British Mosquito bombers attacked. The raid triggered massive ammunition explosions aboard the Ferndale, sending both vessels to the bottom of the Krakhelle Strait near Gulen, Norway. Today, they rest side by side, forming one of Scandinaviaโ€™s most fascinating and iconic wreck diving sites. Two ships. One unforgettable dive ๐Ÿ’™ ยฉ Stella Del Curto | Stellastyles Photography Dive with us ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป @swissdiving.academy ๐Ÿ“ท Nikon D7500 @easydive | @979_dive_ahead | @bigbluedivelights | @bigblueeurope #Ferndale #Parat #WreckDiving #Norway #UnderwaterPhotography by @979_dive_ahead
Same wreck. A different perspective ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด Getting closer to the bow of the Frankenwald reveals a completely different scene. Twisted structures, decades of marine growth and beams of light cutting through the blue. One of the things I love about wreck photography: you can explore the same ship again and again, and still find a new detail โš“๏ธ๐Ÿ’™ ยฉ Stella Del Curto | Stellastyles Photography Dive with us ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป @swissdiving.academy ๐Ÿ“ท Nikon D7500 @easydive | @979_dive_ahead | @bigbluedivelights | @bigblueeurope #Frankenwald #Norway #WreckDiving #UnderwaterPhotography #TechnicalDiving by @979_dive_ahead
A living work of art ๐Ÿชผ๐Ÿงก From delicate, almost translucent jellyfish to vibrant anemones, Norwayโ€™s underwater world was full of unexpected surprises. Painting with light ๐Ÿ”ฆ In complete darkness, light doesnโ€™t simply reveal the cave. It decides what you get to see. A beam, a silhouette, a texture appearing from the darkness โ€” and suddenly the cave takes shape. This is probably one of the things I love most about photographing these places ๐Ÿ’™ Ressel Cave, France ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท ยฉ Stella Del Curto | Stellastyles Photography Dive with us ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป @swissdiving.academy ๐Ÿ“ท Nikon D7500 @easydive | @979_dive_ahead | @bigbluedivelights | @bigblueeurope #ressel #cavediving #technicaldiving #france #underwaterphotography by @979_dive_ahead
โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to see in caves,โ€ they said. ๐Ÿ‘€ Just rocks. Darkness. Nothing else. Traces of the past - A pair of old shears. A wire. A name. A date. J. Hasenmayer, 1981. More than four decades later, theyโ€™re still there, silent traces of the history of cave exploration, and small reminders of those who explored these passages for the first time, doing so with equipment hardly comparable to what we use today. Thereโ€™s something incredible about coming across pieces of that history, still exactly where they were left. Still wondering why I love cave diving? ๐Ÿ˜ Hereโ€™s another part of the answer ๐Ÿ’™ Muddy river outside, incredible visibility inside. Endless shapes, layers of rock, light disappearing into the darknessโ€ฆ and that feeling of being incredibly small inside a world that most people will never see.
