Bodies of Water 💧 A creative concept by my deluxo talented friend Michael Oliver Love I was called in to do grooming, and Michael generously made space for me to bring my analogue cameras along and follow my own eye as a second cam. Feeling grateful for my friends who invite me into their worlds and make room for me to keep practising, experimenting and growing in my craft. Thank you, Mr Love, for the trust and the space. If you wanna go fast, go alone. If you wanna go far, go together. This series, what we call Merwe Mode Muses, was something Deeva and Christiaan invited me to be part of. A series dedicated too artists in many forms, living their craft in Merwe Mode. We had no real plan for the concept. Just a brand-new space, oozing opportunity and delicious light. The space that would become the official home of Merwe Mode. A collection I have found myself fully identifying with. And Brandon, a soul of many expressions, who I have known across what feels like multiple lifetimes and versions of ourselves. Deeva wanted me to feature in the campaign too, and very quickly I had a vision of photographing Brandon in the changing rooms while appearing in reflections myself. It seemed easy enough. Truthfully, it’s quite challenging being both the witness and the witnessed in the same frame. This day held the feeling of the future I wish to live in, friends creating together in perfect harmony. With Deeva and Christiaan and it was love in first creation. Everything that followed our first encounter has felt fluid and effortless. This series, which I am calling Reflections in the Changing Room, feels completely on point for both Merwe Mode and myself as we stand on the threshold of a whole new beginning. I met D & C before I fully allowed myself to hold the title of photographer. Yet they kept putting cameras in my hands. And while I have been unfolding into a photographer they have been preparing and activating a space worthy of everything Merwe Mode is. Now we find ourselves here. At this moment of change. Of becoming. Reflections in the Changing Room, shot on film in the official home of Merwe Mode. Come join us on Thursday as we open the doors to a new beginning. by @__magicaleye__
