Being in a long-distance relationship or marriage requires more than just missing each other. It requires intentionality.

You have to be deliberate about staying connected when you're apart, and just as deliberate about making the most of the moments you get to spend together.

Sometimes, that means putting work on hold, setting aside distractions, making time for each other and simply catching up.

Because the truth is, life will always demand your attention. The children, work, responsibilities and everything in between will keep coming. But you cannot afford to become so consumed by life that you forget to nurture the person you're sharing it with.

Love needs attention. Connection needs effort. And sometimes, you have to be intentional about making your spouse feel like a priority.

The early years of marriage are not just about getting comfortable with each other. They're about learning each other.

It's where you discover how your partner thinks, handles conflict, communicates, and responds when things get difficult.

When you keep sweeping issues under the carpet instead of addressing them, you don't actually resolve anything. You only give those issues more time to grow.

Don't just go through the early years of marriage. Learn from them. Because the habits you build today will shape the marriage you have tomorrow.

A marriage isn't a competition, and your spouse isn't your opponent.

When challenges come, the goal shouldn't be to figure out who has more power, who can survive without the other, or who gets the last laugh.

Sometimes, the mindset of "I don't need him, I can take care of myself" can become a wall that prevents two people from working through what should be faced together.

Marriage requires two people who are willing to fight for the marriage, not against each other.

Because here's the truth: If one person wins and the other loses, the marriage loses.

There's no victory in defeating your spouse. The real win is when both of you win.

It's either both of you win or neither of you does.

There's something important about having people who can speak into your marriage, but there's a level of accountability that goes beyond human intervention.

People can advise, correct and guide, but God sees the things people don't. He understands the heart, knows the intentions and can reach places even the closest friend or mentor cannot.

Perhaps one of the most important things you can do for your marriage is not just surround yourself with the right people, but cultivate a relationship with God that allows Him to speak, correct and guide you.

Because sometimes, the person who needs to hear something isn't going to listen to you. But they might listen to God.

You can have a picture of the kind of person you want to marry, but sometimes, the qualities that matter most go deeper than your preferences.

For her, it wasn't just about marrying a man who went to church. It was about someone who genuinely walked with God, had integrity, and stood by his word.

Because attraction might get your attention, but character is what you're trusting your life with.

What qualities were non-negotiable for you when choosing a life partner?

Attraction might make you notice someone, but friendship helps you discover who they really are.

You can provide for your child, give them everything they need, and still have them grow up feeling emotionally alone.

Your children need to feel heard, understood, safe enough to express themselves, and accepted even when they make mistakes.

Sometimes, the greatest gift you can give your child isn't another thing. It's your presence, your attention, and the reassurance that they matter.

Don't just love your children. Make sure they can feel it.

Being emotionally available isn’t just about being there. It’s about being present.

Listening when your partner needs to talk. Making room for their feelings. Paying attention, even when you don’t have the perfect words to say.

Sometimes, your partner doesn’t need you to fix anything. They just need to know they don’t have to go through it alone.

Love is not just saying “I’m here for you.” It’s showing up when it matters.
