It’s times like this that I look back on the little 6 year old kid that sat behind a drum kit and had no idea what would unfold decades later.

For the last 15 years I’ve been lucky enough to work for all of my local hero’s, international legends and countless drums for so many people. It will forever blow my mind this is what I get to do.

Getting cold called by KSE with a 24 hr turnaround is the icing on the cake that makes me feel like a little kid again.

Life is crazy, take a chance on yourself. You might be glad you did. by @_ianclements

Same same but different by @_ianclements

Spent the last 3 days in a 40+ degree garage undergoing some cosmetic surgery on Larry.

Looking at the very last photo of the day I bought this bike it’s crazy to see the transformation as of today.

How to build a snare drum.

A first for me, teaching someone else how to build a drum from scratch. Not to mention teaching someone how to use tools & do finishing work. Skills that take decades to understand.

@estebanseunarine and I have already restored and recut edges on his vintage 6ply Ludwig kit. Now for the real test. Can you build your own drum from scratch?

The inspiration for this build came from a build I did last year for my self using a Cask steam bent walnut shell. It’s been an absolute joy for both of us to play and record with.

Esteban wanted his own snare but with a few different details to suit his needs. We started with a 14”x5.5” steam bent walnut shell flawlessly made by @caskdrumcraft . 10 of my brass lugs made by @champagnedrum1 . A brass @inde_drum throw off and butt plate. A air vent with no grommet, just a cleanly drilled and finished wood hole. Topped off with a Drum Repair Shop leather badge. @evansdrumheads all around. Genera dry on the batter and a snare side 300 with brass puresound custom pro snare wires.

In total we had 3, 2 hour sessions with a bit of homework for applying all the oil and wax. Clocking this build in at about 8 hours total.

I helped Esteban set up tools and start off on most tasks, but all the work on this drum comes from his hands. He listened well, had the ability to figure it out and understand the task at hand.

It was a pleasure to be able to show someone the process and share knowledge about how drums should be and what they do.

This drums absolutely rips btw (maybe we’ll shoot a video with it later)

Feels nice not wearing long johns and knee high socks on my morning rides to work 🤙🏻

Back in December I had the privilege of building the new POS counter for the new @shortyspizza location on Roblin blvd.

Red Oak stained with @generalfinishes American Walnut and top coated with @osmocanada 3043 Polyx-Oil

The corners and edges were profiled to match up with the Maryland location. (if you see me there with the homies every Friday, no you didn't)

Thanks to my right hand homie @julianauriti for lending an extra set of hands on the install 💪🏻

The homiest of homies @caelanchornoboy got married this year and it was an absolute honour to be his best man.

When I first met Caelan I thought he was just another kid with a great sense of style and a great smile. As we spent more time together working or hanging out, I very quickly realized he was about to become someone very important in my life.

Over the last 5 years of knowing each other I feel like we’ve experienced a life time of memories together. From early morning shop cleans & load ups to early morning boat rides and the occasional blunt stalls on the mini shop quarter pipe.

We’ve been through it and we’ll keep going through it 🫶🏻

Quick little studio desk topper for my moto guru @timattwo

If I’m not working on circles I’m probably working on boxes. I kept all fasteners visible on this because nothing beats a nicely laid out and plugged hole.

Made a small batch of oak with felted bottom Buttdishes that are for sale!

-Smoke ciggies and need a place to butt out?
-Rip phat doobies and need a place to butt out?
-Do neither of those and just need a spot to put your jewelry?

None of that work for you? Well buy one anyways and stick half your ass in it. Buy two for a full ass. 🍑

DM if you would like one. If not Amazon sells ashtrays for like $9 and you could probably buy a handful over these.

From a young age I’ve always been fascinated by Nu Metal and break beat drum intros. So I spent 6 hours recording drums for a 30 second intro to a song that has yet to exist.

The Process:

-record real drums into a computer
-find a useable section and make a loop out of it
-speed that loop up in a new project
-send that loop out to a reverb & phaser and record back into the computer. Pan that far right.
-send that loop out to a distorted guitar amp and record back into the computer. Pan that far left.
-mix that and export it to a USB drive
-import onto the SPD-SX and loop it on a pad
-record that loop back into the computer while manually filter sweeping for the desired effect.

Is there an easier way to do this? Probably but this made sense to me so I ran with it.
