Preforming tomorrow @artspubliclife for TEND to close out the summer season✨

So excited to be back and singing with @meliodasmusic @spacerockdev and @_justcallmemac_

Can’t wait to see y’all there❤️

•••

Tomorrow evening we close the Arts Lawn for the season. Before the Chicago cold appears, join us under the open sky for TEND-one last night to gather and share in the creative heartbeat of our community.

Gather with us as the night unfolds:
Music on the Pavilion: Drift into the evening with the rich sounds of Chicago singer Camila Isabel and her quartet.

Planks & Pistils: Craft seed bombs to plant new growth and carry the spirit of this season forward.
Little Free Library Launch: Explore the newest feature of the Arts Lawn in partnership with UChicago Library.

Stories for Freedom celebrates authors of color and banned books.

L1 Commons Open House: Welcome the CTJM
Foundation to the Arts Block and mark the
commencement of construction on the Chicago Torture Justice Memorial. Stop by from 5:00-7:00 PM for light snacks and drinks.

APL Blankets: Free to attendees while supplies last.
We'll keep warm by the bonfire with s'mores while supplies last.

Come celebrate, connect, and bid the Arts Lawn farewell until next year. by @_justcallmemac_

🗣️ ARTIST FEATURE!

Michael Davenport Quartet

⭐ SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
⭐ TIME: 6pm - 7pm
⭐ VENUE: Hyde Park Bank. 1525 East 53rd St.

Michael Davenport, a vibrant saxophonist from Chicago’s storied South Side, blends the city’s deep jazz roots with a bold, modern sound. A graduate of Whitney M. Young High School and the Manhattan School of Music, he cut his teeth working with Chicago legends Bobby Broom, Mwata Bowden, and Willie Pickens—even sharing the stage with Pickens at the historic Green Mill while Davenport was still in high school. In 2009, he earned a Latin Grammy nomination as a member of Bobby Sanabria’s band for the live album Kenya Revisited Live.

A founding member of the Jazz Institute Student Council, Davenport is also a gifted composer whose original music has been featured on Starz and NPR and in The New York Times. After years performing in New York City and the Bay Area, he’s back in Chicago now, lighting up stages across the city and bringing his soulful energy to the Chicago Jazz Festival and Logan Center for the Arts.

The musicians:
Michael Davenport – saxophones
Elio Adriano – piano
Steven Bowman – bass
Macari Ramsey - drums
