Cheers to 33 🥂 Woke up yesterday morning and had a praise party because this life I’m living is incredibly blessed. For every one thing I feel like I could be doing better, there are 3 others reminding me to look up and embrace the life I’ve built. It’s not glamorous. It’s not loud. It’s not extraordinary. But it’s rich. It’s peaceful. It’s home, and it’s mine, I built it brick by brick. Here’s to another year of drinking more water, minding my business and not letting anyone’s son tek mi fi eeeeediat! 💛 by @_justfi
2025 can be summed up by the 3 M’s: Mexico, Margate and Merky Books. Mexico gave me peace, space and quiet in ways I didn’t expect. A hot air balloon ride (with happy thug tears throughout) helped me reframe my go-to phrase: “Thank God I’m able.” I realised the life I’d felt frustrated by had also made that trip possible. Even more life-defining was learning that I could work, look after my mum from afar, and still fully live my life — without feeling obligated to be physically with her. Then came Margate. Returning from Mexico made one thing clear: I’d outgrown my family home. What I (and I’m sure others) didn’t expect was where I’d land. One day trip in May, house viewings two weeks later, keys two weeks after that — six months on, I’m still in a state of quiet bliss. I love the home I’m building, slowly and intentionally. To round things off, I became a Merky Books New Writers’ Prize shortlistee — which still sounds mad. I entered to force myself back into writing (classic me: started the manuscript days before the deadline), not imagining what might happen next. At first I felt grateful just to be there, almost trying not to take up space. Now I’m learning to sit with the fact that I earned it — alongside some wildly talented writers. Whatever comes next, the reminder that my voice matters means everything. 2025, you’ve been grand. 2026… let’s be ’avin you. ✨ by @_justfi
32🎈 Couldn’t let July end without acknowledging my birthday (the one time a year I pop up on this here feed 🙃) I traded in my bikini for steelies and a hi-vis for my birthday week this year and I can’t lie, it felt weird. Working on my birthday is not my ministry, but big love to the Afro Nation team for making it a good day. In all honesty, I’ve been running on fumes the last couple of months. It’s only now that the dust is starting to settle. Truly, this season of life is called vibes and inshallah. Above all though, I always have to thank God I’m able. You already know the score, here’s to drinking more water, minding my business and not letting anyone’s son tek mi for what? Eeeediat! 🫶🏾 by @_justfi
Another year around the sun and man, I’m just happy to be here 🤷🏾‍♀️ yesterday I went to this gorgeous restaurant in Lindos, the food was divine and I found myself moved to tears 🥹 (thug tears in public only) with the spirit of gratitude because things haven’t been great these last couple of months but thank God these are the problems I get to have. As such, all I ever want to do on my birthday is swim, have a gorgeous view, treat myself to something good (today it was a day at the spa), drink a bottle of Asti (1. Don’t judge me and 2) I’m the classiest of babes 🤥), nap and eat good food and I can confirm this has been accomplished. Thank you for the birthday wishes, being loved on is pretty sweet ✌🏾 until next year feed 🙃 by @_justfi
See ya later 2023. I dubbed this year my coasting year. I needed a breather. The last couple of years have been go go go. Doing far too many things at one time, saying yes to far more work than I should have and whilst the experience was unmatched and I’m eternally grateful, I entered this year bloody knackered. So I coasted. Held down one long term contract and did nothing else, including pausing my own projects. Many things suffered in this time but I’m committed to not sweating it. Starting the new year with a new job (bye freelance Fi 😬), an acknowledgment of the parts of my life I need to work on, and a bit more of a pep in my step. No new year resolutions over here, just a continued commitment to be good to myself, to allow moments of joy where I can (the world truly is trying to take this away from us), and to take care of my people in all ways necessary. Sending love to you all, glad we made it and I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for us all. Happy New Year✨💛 by @_justfi
Here’s to 30! Glad to be in you, you’ve got a lot to beat as for the most part, my 20s were pretty ace. Excited for this new decade and all that comes with it (though we need to talk about these knees my guy, geriatric knees at 30 are NOT it). I’ve spent the day in the pool, polished off a bottle of Asti, drank too many cocktails, danced, napped, and now my day is ending doing the one thing I requested for my birthday: dinner with a view. Same script as always, here’s to drinking more water, minding my business and not letting someone’s son take me fi ediiiaaattt! I’m a big woman now, talk to me nice (sorry but 😂😭). Thank you for the birthday messages you lovely, lovely people😘💛 #30 #HBD by @_justfi

#29 🎈⁣ ⁣ Life has really been lifeing this year, but the blessings are never too far away. Regardless of the loss, I’m rarely ever lacking and if that’s not something to be grateful for, I don’t know what is! Here’s to another year 🍻 by @_justfi
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to start a YouTube channel to document my journey as a scrappy entrepreneur, but in true Fiona fashion, I punked out and didn't really do a big song and dance about it. The last year running a food business and a non-profit has been such a learning curve. I often question why I even do it. However, I think the tension I've experienced is what you're supposed to feel when you're stretching yourself beyond your current capacity. Hello to new muscles being built 💪🏾 Anyway, I uploaded a new video the other day talking about how an encounter with a fellow butter brand made me reframe how I see my competitors. I appreciate that perhaps it doesn't work for every industry, but in this particular use case, it was a game changer. I'm not going to promise weekly uploads or anything, but I do commit to learning in public and sharing as much as possible. I've got a few different videos coming up around the issues non-profits face, how I'm approaching moving from a direct-to-consumer model to working with retailers, and building a web app amongst other things. Hopefully, you'll be able to take something away from it over time. Link to the latest episode and the accompanying blog are in my bio! Give it a watch, give it a share, like and subscribe (lol, this proper feels cringe I can't lie). I appreciate you all! #ScrappyEntrepreneurship101 #Entrepreneurship #YouTube #Vlogs #BuildInPublic #LearnInPublic #Business #YouTubeChannel #businessowner #businesswoman by @_justfi
#28 blessings on blessings on blessings. No long post from me, just a reminder that what God cannot do does not exist. Thank you all for the birthday love💛 by @_justfi
I couldn't tell you how happy I am that we can finally reveal the programme for this year’s @shubbakfestival (link is in my bio). Trying to programme a festival in the midst of a pandemic has definitely been a trip, but I'm so proud of the team for persevering and pulling it together. For those that don't know, Shubbak Festival is the UK’s premier festival of contemporary Arab arts and culture. Running from 20th June – 17th July, this year’s ambitious programme connects you to the very best in contemporary Arab art and culture and includes marathon DJ sets, hip hop and rap artists, re-imagined classics, installations in iconic settings, and audio guided tours of an imaginary city. Shubbak will be coming to you live and direct from London, online and broadcasting from Beirut, Gaza, Marrakech, Slemani, Riyadh, Khartoum and Doha. Join artists, audiences and communities locally and globally through a festival programme made up of newly commissioned work, and work that has been reimagined specifically for this year’s exceptional conditions. A huge thank you to our funders for the continued support in the hybrid delivery of the programme! @qattanfoundation @britishcouncil @aceagrams @dcmsgovuk @ukhmtreasury @paulhamlynfoundation 📸1: @felukah (who is collaborating with The Synaptik) 📸2: The Land’s Heart is Greater than its Map by Ramzi Maqdisi and Olivia Furber (@olivefurber @maqdisiramzi) #Shubbak #ShubbakFestival #ArabCulture #ArabArtists #ContemporaryArabArt #hHereForCulture #Felukah #TheSynaptik #RamziMaqdisi #OliviaFurber #London by @_justfi
