Kenmia L. Boware is a junior nursing major with a minor in psychology from Birmingham, Alabama. A first-generation college student with an associate degree in nursing science, she embodies determination and excellence.

40% closer to my dreams. 40% closer to my purpose. 🤍

First, I want to thank God. This semester tried to break me in so many ways, but God saw me through. Despite the smile I wore most days, I was carrying battles that felt impossible. There were moments I thought my mind would win, but God showed up and gave me peace and the strength to keep going. For that, I thank Him daily.

Honestly, I almost didn’t celebrate this milestone in my nursing journey because it didn’t look how I wanted it to. I didn’t get the grades I’m used to. But I realized my story could help another nursing student who may be looking down on their “C.”

I ended this semester with all C’s. And you know what? I passed.

Just a few weeks ago, I was failing two classes, Med-Surg and Pharm/Patho 2. I was in tears, in my head, and beyond disappointed because I was giving everything I had. I kept asking myself, “Is this really how my semester is going to end?”

But I had to pass 3 exams with almost perfect scores.

So I locked myself in my room and the library. I prayed over every study session. Every chapter. Every tear.

And He heard me.

He saw me through.

This semester didn’t just strengthen my faith in God, it renewed my faith in myself. I’m reminded now more than ever that I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

So to every nursing student or anyone chasing a dream when it looks impossible, when it feels like there’s no way out, KEEP FIGHTING. Keep showing up. Keep believing.

God is not a genie, but He is a miracle worker.
And God is still a way maker.

Hold your head high. Keep your faith. Keep your hope.

I’m so happy that I got to be beside each of you amazing women as we created our beautiful SISTUH-hood!💛

Grateful to stand among phenomenal women who made this dream a reality! I am more than honored to be recognized as the SISTUH of Spirituality, a reminder that purpose, faith, and perseverance always align. Allowing God to guide not only me but you all on this journey!
