We have entered the don’t be sorry it’s almost over, be glad it is still happening phase of this show. Days will become hours. Hours will become minutes. Minutes will become seconds. Soon, Little Hand by Madison East will come to an end here at Cruise Control Contemporary. If you’ve been waiting to stop by, your window is getting smaller. If you’ve been waiting to do almost anything, maybe your window is getting smaller too. Thank you to everyone who has spent time with the work so far. For those who can’t make it in person, a checklist of available works is always available by request. And thank you for taking the time to read this, and for continuing to make room in your life for art, or for the simple act of spending time in a place dedicated to it. As more and more of our attention is competed for, co-opted, and monetized by the conveniences of modern life, protecting your time may be one of the most meaningful creative acts left. Protect your time. Photos by @miwahlee by @_madisoneast
A few details from my show Little Hand at @cruisecontrolcontemporary / Showing through the month of July! by @_madisoneast
I’ve never worked this hard for myself. Thank you for coming and reading and laughing and seeing who I am! I love you all. Thank you Charlie for challenging me and supporting me and full moon-opening this new work and my heart and my hands. This was the perfect rouse to bring all my people together in one space on my favorite day of the week, Sunday baby. 🕐🕦🤍 by @_madisoneast
I’m so excited to share time this Sunday at @cruisecontrolcontemporary opening June 28, 5-7pm / show will be up through July! by @_madisoneast
Why text when you can print/scissors/glue and send by post hand made collages as your show invite? Email version sent today, open it. @_madisoneast 6/28 never miss a Sunday show “The materials that make up these collages originate from a world of print media that is rapidly disappearing. Long before social media feeds and algorithmic matchmaking, newspapers served as places where people searched for companionship, work, intimacy, excitement, and recognition. The classifieds represented a uniquely public form of vulnerability: a space where desire could be broadcast to an anonymous audience and returned, if at all, through chance. By layering together decades of these printed appeals, East transforms ephemeral advertisements and personal messages into visual records of collective yearning.” LITTLE HAND Madison East Opening Reception Sunday, June 28 5:00–7:00 PM Cruise Control Contemporary Cambria, California by @_madisoneast
