Fulfillment… fulfillment is not a word I can use to describe my hs wrestling career. Since a young kid, I’ve chased the goal of having my name on the wall amongst the best of Long Beach’s past and present. However I fell short of that goal. Not once, not twice, but four times. But I cannot take away the fact that I overcame some elite obstacles during the 2026 county tournament. Finishing on the podium when many others thought I couldn’t. But there are many people responsible for this all county finish. First off, God. Without God, nothing is possible, his love and guidance carried me. My coaches, any person that has been in my corner shouting moves (even if I may not have been listeningπŸ˜…) has been a major part to my accomplishments. I was blessed with the best coaches an athlete could wish for. Next, my teammates, especially training partners. You have pushed me beyond my limits, broke me to my core just to help me rebuild stronger. And without you pushing me, I wouldn’t be here, I couldn’t have done it without you. And lastly, friends and family, you guys are my rock, my base, my shoulders to lean on. Your unconditional love and support has truly been essential to my success. And without you guys, I have nothing. But I can’t go without thanking Long Beach wrestling. I’ve been apart of this exceptional program since the 1st grade. And I’ve grown, as well as watch my peers grow into elite athletes, and amazing people, all while competing in the best sport in the world. The LB program has brought me my best friends, closest family, and the best memories I can recall. I know I always have a home when it comes to my wrestling family. Although it wasn’t the perfect ending I worked so hard towards, I still gave it my all and loved every moment of it. And so he becomes the person he fears, the wrestler who β€œcould”, but β€œdidnt”. Thank you LB wrestling for being an essential aspect of my life. But if you think for a second that this is the end of me on the mat, you are far from the truth. The best is yet to come. by @_mattydiamond_
14 years of competing at the Battle at the Beach Tournament, and to say this is the last, it kinda stings. But I loved every last second of it. Onto the next… Photo creds: @patdonaghypics & @josephl_photography by @_mattydiamond_
