Girls are often encouraged to become leaders. But how often are they given the opportunity to experience leadership?

During Girls TakeOver 2026, Angel stepped into the role of Ambassador for a Day at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tanzania (@netherlandsintanzania) , gaining firsthand experience of leadership and the Embassy’s work.

“Most people are encouraged to become leaders without being given the experience of actually being one. I’m honoured that I was given this opportunity.” — Angel.

Her experience also introduced her to the Embassy’s work supporting sustainable fish farming in Tanzania, including the Big Fish initiative in Kigamboni, which brings together Tanzanian and Dutch expertise to improve aquaculture practices.

✨ 10.10 — A day of sisterhood, strength, and purpose! 🤍🦋

I had the beautiful opportunity to spend time with amazing ladies living with vitiligo, sharing our stories, experiences, challenges, and hopes. 🤍 Together, we celebrated our uniqueness, embraced our differences, and stood united for a better tomorrow for every girl. 👭🏽🌸💪🏽

Our skin may tell different stories, but our voices carry one powerful message: every girl deserves to be seen, heard, accepted, and empowered. 🤍✨

Together, we rise. Together, we inspire. Together, we stand for a brighter tomorrow! 🦋🌍💜. Also I’d love to give my special thanks to dada momo @art_withmomo for having the honors of doing my first makeup

🌍✨ Exploring new places, learning new perspectives, and gaining valuable insight into the world of diplomacy. 🇹🇿🤝🇳🇱 This experience inspired me to dream bigger, lead with purpose, and keep working towards a future without limits. The journey is just beginning! 💼🎓👑✨

In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11th, we welcomed our Ambassador Angel Leone for the day, in collaboration with Plan International @plan_tanzania ✨💪👩‍💻

Tune in to what Ms. Leonce did during her time in the office and on her field visit to BigFish, an aquaculture hatchery in Kigamboni using Dutch YY-technology. 🐟🐠

Our girl Ambassador Ms. Leonce is passionate about fighting stigma around skin diseases, such as vitiligo, and hopes to reach many people through her activism.

Thank you for inspiring us, Ambassador Angel! 🌎🇳🇱🇹🇿 by @_ms_mercedes08

We made a movie. ✨🎬

But underneath the scenes, there’s a bigger message:

Girls don’t just belong in the room. They can take over it.

Brace yourselves and Enjoy✨

Just a girl with big goals, a little faith, and a whole lot of determination. 📚🎯✨ Taking my time, learning my lessons, and staying locked in. No pressure, just progress. 🫶🏽💫 by @_ms_mercedes08

It was a Girls’ Takeover 💙✨!

On 15 September, we had an inspiring day at UNICEF and Children’s dignity forum (CDF) learning more about children’s rights, girls’ rights, raising girls’ voices, and creating spaces where girls can be heard, valued, and empowered. 💪🏽💙

From building confidence to strengthening leadership skills, the day reminded us that when girls are given the opportunity to speak, lead, and dream boldly, amazing things can happen. ✨

Here’s to girls raising their voices, taking up space, and leading the way! 💙👑
