A few days back, when I saw Mansi's @missfollyfit Barley & Oats Vegetable Handvo, I knew I had to make it. It appeared pretty tempting and the recipe was simple too. I mentioned to her that I would definitely make it - so this is for you, Mansi ! 😇

I served my uber-delicious and perfectly browned handvo with pudina chutney, tomato ketchup and some kadak masala chai. Bliss!❤️

This was the first time I made handvo despite seeing this on Instagram and on TV a lot of times. I like this dish so much now that I'm eager to try it out with different ingredients and with a variety of veggies.

Incessant rains; cool weather; no work to do; lazy Saturday evening. What did I do? Put on my creative thinking hat and ended up with this Deconstructed Sev Dahi Batata Puri Shots... 😜

I had a blank mind when I set up the table to photograph. I thought I would do a simple plating, but then, I wasn't up for it. I thought a bit, paced up and down the balcony a few times and then decided to present this mouth-watering dish this way - deconstructed!😁

You might not have come across sev dahi puri with boiled moong added, but I am different, you see 😉 Pomegranate pearls there for that beautiful color and sweetness.

So the puris are stuffed with boiled masala potatoes, boiled moong, tamarind chutney, chopped onion, grated carrot, some pomegranate pearls and then sprinkled with some aamchur & red chilli powder. There's sweetened curd in the shot glass (+ more for a curd lover like me!). Extra sev too, because there is nothing as too much sev 😇

Don't forget to swipe to see a close-up shot!

I was missing in action for the last 6 months now! Yes, it has been that long. I am back on Instagram today and this festive season felt most appropriate to get back here ☺️

I don't know how active I can be. But I would contribute as and when I can.. ☺️

Our Ganesha was offered chaklis, coconut & jaggery filled modaks and besan milk burfi this year. I am sure He was elated with this early morning meal 😀
What do you think?

I have never liked brinjal. This is the only vegetable that I do not enjoy eating 🤭

But I bought some cute little brinjals, made this delicious curry and ate it too! 😁 Posted it here too.. 😎

How many of you are in my gang - the ones who don't like brinjal? 🥺

What's on #MyPlatefulOfGoodness today?

*MAHARASHTRIAN KOTHIMBIR VADI*

I never knew using so much (read, really much) coriander leaves in a dish would end up being so tasty! A couple of years ago, I was on a quest to learn Marathi and a bit of Maharashtrian cuisine too. That was when I got introduced to this absolutely delicious and easy to make Kothimbir Vadi. I have made this quite a few times since then and each time, it turns out perfect. 😎

This is a mixture of gram flour (besan), coriander leaves, groundnuts, basic Indian masalas, sesame seeds, steamed and then pan-roasted. Packed with nutrition - vitamins, iron, protein & carbs, this makes a perfect snack with a cup of strong adrak chai. 😇

Do you want to try this?

Recipe here for those of you who are new to this and would like to try:

What you need-
1 cup besan
1.5 cups chopped coriander leaves
A handful of lightly crushed roasted groundnuts
1 tsp each of ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste, coriander powder, jeera powder, red chilli powder, sesame seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste

✓ Mix all the ingredients together, adding water little by little
✓ Transfer this mixture into a greased tin
✓ Sprinkle sesame seeds on the batter
✓ Steam this for about 13-15 mins or until a toothpick inserted into it comes out clean
✓ Let this cool down
✓ Cut into desired shapes and roast in a greased pan until it turns brown and crispy
✓ Serve with a chutney of your choice

I chose to eat it plain 😅

Beautiful backdrop from @thelocalstoreind ♥️

Don't these idlis look like our regular rice idlis? Yes? But they aren't! 🤭

These are instant potato idlis on #MyPlatefulOfGoodness today. Really!!! 🥺 ... & that gorgeous red chutney is made with fresh coconut and garlic 🤤🤤

When I saw Prafulla @prafullacooksandbakes had made these a few weeks back, I was intrigued with the idea. She had borrowed the idea from @foodsandflavoursbyshilpi

Thank you both for your wonderful posts. I am glad to have tried these soft & delicious idlis ❣️

I might try these next time with some minor changes too..

Yes, I have been a little bored, a little demotivated, a little uninterested in Instagram in the past month. 😏
However, I have never liked posting images every single day because I feel it is really not worth sharing repeated content. I also couldn't care less about those unfollowers who didn't want to follow my page any longer because of very little activity here. 😅

Today, as I grow another year older, I thought it was appropriate to reactivate my food blog. So, why not a cake post on my birthday?. Because I didn't bake one 🤭

In the frame on #MyPlatefulOfGoodness today, you see a delightful, delicious and most loved breakfast of South Canara - Masala Avalakki. This is very similar to the Maharashtrian #dadpepohe, that we enjoyed as our Sunday breakfast ☺️

I don't know anybody from this region who doesn't love this breakfast which can easily double up as a snack too. Generally eaten with coffee or curd or banana, I do not prefer any of these combinations 😁

... & for a change, I couldn't decide which of these pictures is better. 😉

*METHI MALAI MATAR PANEER*

I am back after a break spanning close to a fortnight. Thank you all for those encouraging messages on my previous post. 🥰
Thank you for sticking around and waiting for my new post. 🤪
I don't know if I have the same zeal as before, but I'm hoping to churn out some good content this year!

This is a paneer curry here with the goodness of green peas and fresh methi leaves. Sounds amazing, right? Also, I can't get tired of screaming that my love for paneer is eternal. 😁

I am not someone who posts pictures here every single day or stories every half an hour.

But of late, I seem to have lost even that little bit of interest I had, for posting pictures here. 🙄
I contributed to a few collaborations last month and signed up for a few this month, but it looks like I won't be able to contribute to any of those now. 🥺

I hope this tumult in my mind settles down and I'll be able to be back here. Until then, enjoy these tender Bharwan Bhindi (stuffed lady's fingers) on #MyPlatefulOfGoodness, that I made over the weekend.

*KADAI PANEER* with chapatis on #MyPlatefulOfGoodness for #MealsReadyUnder30

Many of you here in my Insta family know my love for paneer, which is eternal.☺️ I have been making paneer at home from the last few months & for me, there's nothing more satisfying than making it myself. Straining the curdled milk and letting it set is so therapeutic for me. 😇

I make a variety of paneer dishes, but this Kadai Paneer is a favourite, but only after Paneer Butter Masala. 😆
This kadai paneer gets done within half an hour. The only slightly time-consuming part here is to roast a couple of spices and fry a mix of chopped onions & tomatoes. But these get done in parallel. Saving on time, yeah?

So, if you have some homemade paneer in the fridge, making this dish is a breeze! 🙌

P.S: no artificial colors used in this dish. The bright red color is from ripe tomatoes & kashmiri red chilli powder! 😍
