These are pants I made earlier this year! Fabric is from JoAnns when that used to be a store…I made the pattern, based off a pair of vintage jeans. These are some vision boards I started at @craftclubslc early in the year. They cover a couple different areas of my life - business, play, house. I started by gathering inspo pics from around the internet, old magazines and some pictures from my life. One page wasn’t cutting it and I was having so much fun I made four! Haha. @lexi.wissenbach joined me for some of the crafting :)

My theme for this year is F*ck it Upppppp. To me it means to work on just trying and failing. And this year I feel like I’ve been doing just that. Failing is a very important part of learning. Plus most of the time I try and I don’t fail nearly as often as I think I will!

My most recent fail was I spent hours planning and rearranging my house so I could fit my new sewing machine somewhere in it. I measured all my furniture and made layouts in Illustrator. I even moved all my furniture a couple times trying different layouts. And then I had a conversation with J and he helped me see that although I can just slap a sewing machine somewhere, it won’t really help me have a space that feels comfortable and is functional. So with the help of @snolonely my brother I put everything back. Complimented J on his original layout. And I am back to the drawing board. I am working on documenting all the steps of my process and what machines and tools I need at what steps. Then J will help me make a layout that really works for our needs. by @cocoolsonpaul

I’m working on my airbrushing skills. This piece is a test I did back in June. I have a cabinet project I’m working on that I’d like to airbrush. It will be a variety of sunrises and sunset landscapes. Eventually I want to build airbrushing into my leather work. I love low riders so so much and would love to be able to work on cars.
This one reminds me of a nebula. I was trying to work on gradients and seeing how the colors lay. While also trying to just figure out my airbrush.
I learned to not airbrush in direct sun since the paint kept drying out in the pot. It was a pain to clean. by @cocoolsonpaul

I whipped this leather moto jacket up in May. J designed it in Clo3D, I cut the pieces with the projector and sewed it up on my Nakajima 341L in a speedy hurry. It was a fast prototype to work on fit and the process flow, made in a few days.
The original design was intended to have the black panels be a mesh for breathability. Since it was a mock up I used half perforated suede from @makingspacethrift.
I made a canvas mock up, which I’ll probably post more making details on my making page @cocoolsonpaul . We made minor changes to the fit and then made this one. There are some things I’d change but it was good to work on letting go on perfectionism (perfect seams, etc) bc it is just a mock up. by @cocoolsonpaul

First patch! Documenting to one day see how far I’ve come 😂
Technical deets: yellow felt with bothread machine embroidery thread purple + light yellow, designed in Hatch (first design in Hatch!). Rectangle fill (I don’t remember what I picked lol), satin stitch border and letters. One piece of cutaway stabilizer.
What I’d do differently: lay a running stitch before cutting out the felt. Use appliqué scissors to cut said felt. Not cut my stabilizer halfway through haha (bottom left - that’s why there’s pulling). And maybe slow my machine down speed wise and use some water soluble stabilizer on top for neater stitches. Use a backing fabric that is the same color as fill thread color.
At the beginning of the year I was texting with @sar_creates about just failing. And I realized this year I wanted to fail more in my crafting/design endeavors. I’ve deemed this the year of failure and surprise surprise - I’m having so much more fun :)

Ceramics I’m working on rn.
#1 - cherry dip/sauce tray (needs to be trimmed ikyk)
#2 - star sauce peep my space themed kitchenware
#3 - sauce spoon holder, candle stick holder, lil dish. after they are fired I’ll have to show you the bottoms! It’s the best part.
#4 & #5 - space themed kitchenware!! Flying saucer 🛸 salt shaker and little box. Two orbs - one salt shaker (it comes out the bottom, has a little funnel in the middle and you shake the salt out) and one just planet haha (in the foreground) I was going for a hollow shape as spherical as I could get! Also a non space themed trivet that says “make fire food”
I’ll have to do a separate post for my flying saucer shaker. Unhappy with the glaze but thrilled about the shape!
