Abstract VIII
from Häutungen / Shedding (2024-26)
Colour stands in for a body that chooses dissolution over declaration. Warmth accumulates on its own terms, answering to nothing outside the frame. This is not disappearance. It is self-possession.

April – 21. Obsessed with our Seen Mentor Prize winners 🤩 After more than 150 applications, @serutrepa @jodihayspainter @_sanstories_ are our Seen Mentor Prize winners this years! These artists stood out not simply because of the quality of the work, but because of the clarity of their thinking, their commitment to their practices, and the sense that this is an important moment in their careers. If you’re interested in emerging artists, keep an eye on these three ⬇️ @jodihayspainter constructs quilt-like collages from reclaimed cardboard and fabric, transformed through dyeing, pressing, and cutting. @serutrepa photographs the ordinary spaces that make up American life - warehouses, barbershops, back alleys - where light briefly makes the invisible visible. @_sanstories_ is a Berlin-based artist whose work moves between self-portraiture and abstraction, using color as a language of affect and resistance. Her series “Shedding” is currently on view at Haus am Kleistpark, Berlin, and heads to Arles this July. Stay tuned for our Top 10 and Discovery Lists! Huge thanks to @christian_levett and @famm_mougins for their support of this year’s Seen Mentor Prize. by @_sanstories_

ARLES 2026 is in full swing and we’re proud to be part of one of the world’s most celebrated photography festivals. At Sediment Rising, every photograph is brought to life on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Baryta and German Etching papers, carefully chosen to complement each artist’s vision with exceptional depth, texture, and detail. But every print holds more than an image - it tells a story. That’s why we sat down with the photographers behind the exhibition to talk about their inspiration, creative process, and the ideas that shaped Sediment Rising. This is just a first glimpse. Stay tuned for the full interviews and discover the stories behind the prints. On view at Galerie Betty, Les Rencontres d’Arles 2026 until 12 July! #Hahnemuehle #Arles2026 #LesRencontresdArles #FineArtPrinting #SedimentRising by @_sanstories_
What a ride. 🌊 Still not quite landed. Still somewhere between Arles and home, warm from it all, still hearing the conversations, still feeling the heat of those short southern nights.
Sediment Rising. Six days. Four rooms. One unforgettable week during the opening of Les Rencontres de la Photographie. We were part of @festivaloffarles, showing at @galeriebettyarles, who gave us the space and the trust.
Opened by @fransangle / @dergreif, whose opening remarks set the whole thing in motion. Deepened by @ingotaubhorn, whose artist talk went far and didn’t let go. Transported safely across long roads by Gisbert.
Made possible by the incredible support of @hahnemuehle_imaging @pie.photographyineurope @villa_schmueck_dich @europrint_medien @hheenemann. Thank you @tara.wolff for the beautiful artist portraits and all the hands in between.
And carried, above all, by everyone who walked through the door, stayed for a second drink, asked the question that stuck, stood quietly in front of a photograph for a little longer than expected. That is everything. You know who you are.
 And what’s next? Grain
