Bad Connection has officially been out for a few weeks now. Everyone helped out on this one. Thank you Listen or smell 📸- @rockoutetc 🖼️- @rodeo.wilson by @_smilepile_
I’m not sure if we’re supposed to do this. Oh well, here it is- HAVE I WASTED (again) At the end of a productive evening in the studio back in December, we figured we might have one more in us. So we hunkered down & hammered this out in a few takes. Recording live feels like the only way. No overdubs, nothing. What you hear is what we did in that moment in that room. Recorded at @echoechorecording Engineered by @ivyleaguerecording Mixed by @andy_jones Mastered by @neufeldjon Photo/video- @rockoutetc Artwork- @rodeo.wilson Bass & BGV- @kyle.patrick.cregan Lead Guitar- @j_lew_wat_it_do t Drums- @bigfudgemike Vocals & Acoustic Guitar- @zich_please Wurlitzer- @thesoundisround Pedal Steel- @erik_clampitt BGV- @eliotchamberlain Thank you. Sunday at Lavern’s! by @_smilepile_
I’m leaving Portland (ain’t goin far) at the end of this month. Sure feels like I put in my time downtown. The Cumberland has been home for last 7 years. #8 to #1 to #21. I learned how to record here. @joshthys told me all I needed was an interface & two sm57 mics. Eventually graduated to an Edwina, then the pandemic happened & I wrote a fuck ton of songs. These 6 tunes were written & recorded sometime between 2021-23. They were meant for @_smilepile_ ……but we move at a glacial pace. Demos, fancy demos, ep, album, finished, unfinished, unmixed, mastered or not- could not be bothered to give a shit. As they all say, “fuck perfection” please give these songs a listen & give me a neck punch next time you see me Oh also come to @lavernespdx on Sept. 20 for the last @_smilepile_ show for a minute 📸 @lisahaagen by @_smilepile_
The band Smilepile cut right to our emotional heartstrings and rocked us into dancing at the party in the park at Little Float! Thanks to B-Side Records (@bside_records_vintage) for donating the sound equipment for the event! Follow @smilepile for upcoming gigs in and around Portland! 📸 All photos by Hamid Shibata Bennett by @_smilepile_
