Sometimes, we need a reminder of why the work matters. ❤️

From community health outreach and blood pressure checks to hands-on CPR practice and lifesaving skills training, every opportunity to educate, equip, and empower people brings us closer to a world where more people know how to respond when it matters most.

Because healthcare isn’t only about treating people when they’re unwell. It’s also about prevention, preparedness, and giving people the knowledge and skills to make a difference.

This is why we keep showing up.

Want Palmthrive to bring health education, first aid training, or lifesaving skills training to your school, workplace, or organisation? Send us a DM.

One year of showing up, learning, building, serving, and turning a vision into something tangible.

From the moments that challenged us to the moments that reminded us why we started, every step has been part of the journey.

And this is only the beginning.

As we celebrate one year, we’re grateful for everyone who has been part of the journey so far, and excited for all that lies ahead.

One year down. The vision continues.

Sudden confusion should never be brushed off as “just old age.”

A sudden change in awareness, speech, breathing, strength, or alertness can have different causes and may require urgent medical assessment. Pay attention to what has changed, stay with the person, and seek medical help when needed.

Sometimes, recognising that something is different is the first step to getting the right care.

Memory changes can happen as we age, but noticeable or persistent changes in memory, thinking, behaviour, or everyday functioning deserve attention.

Alzheimer’s disease is one possible cause, but it is not the only one. An assessment can help determine what may be contributing to the changes and what support or treatment may be appropriate.

If you’ve noticed significant changes in yourself or someone you care about, don’t simply dismiss them as part of getting older. Talk to a healthcare professional.

Remember, always plan ahead.
Not because we expect something to happen, but because being prepared is a lot better than being confused during an emergency.

Sepsis can begin with symptoms that may seem like an ordinary infection or illness, but it can progress quickly and become life-threatening.

Pay attention when someone becomes suddenly very unwell, especially when there are changes in breathing, alertness, heart rate, temperature, or overall strength. Early recognition and urgent medical care can make a critical difference.

Know the signs. Take sudden changes seriously. Seek help early.

Palmthrive, the Nigerian Cardiac Society, and Kiacorps took health education to the streets, engaging both young people and older adults in basic life support training, including CPR.

The goal was simple: equip community members with the knowledge and skills to respond appropriately in a medical emergency and contribute to better health outcomes in the community.

Mental health is part of health.

Sometimes the changes we need to notice aren’t obvious. A person may withdraw, speak differently, or simply seem unlike themselves. Knowing when something feels off—and being willing to ask, listen, and support—can make a difference.

This Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, let’s make checking in part of how we care for one another.

If you’re concerned about someone, don’t ignore the signs. Reach out, listen without judgement, and encourage them to get the support they need.

Prevention starts with awareness. Care starts with paying attention.

A few weeks ago, we partnered with @athousandgeneration for a community outreach in Piwoyi to provide health support, engage with people directly, and better understand the health needs within the community.

It was a valuable opportunity to take healthcare beyond the clinic and into the spaces where people live and connect.

We’re glad to have been part of it, and we look forward to continuing to support healthier communities through prevention, rapid response and aftercare.
