POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi! I’m River! It’s been a while so let me reintroduce myself. I’m a licensed massage therapist here in Atlanta, and I’ve been practicing since September 2020.

My work lives in three places: chronic pain management, intentional therapeutic touch, and a space where you get to be exactly who you are. I’m certified in Swedish, deep tissue, NMT, Trigger Point Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Prenatal, and cupping, but the techniques are only the toolbox. What I care about most is what they make possible, which is a body that finally gets to exhale.

My passion for this work is personal. I’ve lived with chronic illness for over a decade, so I know what it is to be in a body that hurts and to be told to just push through. I bring that understanding to every session. Your pain is real, and you deserve care that listens before it touches.

We live in a world that dims our magic. Think of my table as a place to recharge and remember who you are underneath all the noise.

All bodies are welcome and safe with me. I’m a proud lesbian, and LGBTQ+ friendly isn’t a label I’m borrowing, it’s a promise I keep.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me at home in Atlanta with my fiancé, our two dogs, and our three cats, who run the household and have never once asked my permission. I love reading, fashion, hiking, and the occult.

Ready to rest, release, and recharge? Book a ritual through the link in my bio. I offer both tarot and massage! I can’t wait to meet you. 🕯️✨ by @_theriverstyxx

You’re killing people? No I’m killing boys. by @_theriverstyxx

Cleo. Mama girl. My Cletus-Lupeedus. My soulmate passed away at 19.

Miss Cleo saw me through every version of myself. Childhood. College. The shaky years of young adulthood. Every move, every heartbreak, every beginning. And now I’m in my 30s, finally at peace, and she got to see that too. Through all of it, she loved me exactly the same. I was never too much or not enough for her. I was just hers. And she was mine.

I can’t remember a life without her in it, and now I’m being asked to learn one. I don’t know how. What is grief if not leftover love with nowhere to go? And hers was the purest love I have ever known, which is why this feels so heavy. Five years, twenty years, a hundred years. It never would have been enough.

She chose me, and I chose her, and we grew up side by side. I don’t know a single person who met her and didn’t fall in love. To know that sweet girl was to love her.
Thank you, Cleo, for every purr. For every loaf on my belly when I was in a pain flare, as if she knew exactly where I hurt. For every late night biscuit factory shift. For every kiss on my face. I will miss hearing your little chirps as I walk through the door, greeting me every single time.

You were my greatest love and my fiercest protector, and I will carry you with me for the rest of my life.
Rest easy, baby girl. Say hi to Star and Scruffy. I know they’ve missed you. And if heaven is real, I know exactly what it will look like: you, in the sun, waiting for me.
I love you forever. 🤍🕯️ by @_theriverstyxx

Haven’t done a dump in a while. September 🖤 by @_theriverstyxx

Dolly, you took the very things this world tries to shrink Appalachian girls down for, the twang, the big hair, the bigger heart, the refusal to apologize for any of it, and you turned them into an icon. You didn’t leave the mountains behind when you headed to Nashville. You just handed the rest of us a way in. And your magic was never really about the rhinestones or the shape of you. It was writing “Coat of Many Colors” with a truth so plain it cracked something open in anyone who’d ever been laughed at for where they were from or how they spoke.

For every girl raised on a dirt road with a voice too big for her town and a spirit too strange for the box she was handed, you were living proof it could be done. You showed us soft and shrewd can live in the same woman, that a sharp business mind and a rhinestone heart aren’t a contradiction, that generosity is its own kind of power. You built libraries before you built your legend, put books in the hands of kids who never owned one, funded vaccine research without needing a press conference for it. You loved your people enough to stay tender toward the place that didn’t always know what to do with you. Dolly, you didn’t just make it out of the mountains. You made the mountains something to be proud of, and for every Appalachian girl who never fit the box, you left the door wide open and the porch light on. Rest in eternal peace to our Appalachian Queen. by @_theriverstyxx
