an update! i am expanding my offerings outside the scope of just baking and will now be pursuing all of my cooking endeavors under the name “tutu’s kitchen.” this is in honor of the woman who started my cooking journey: my grandma, whom i called tutu, as well as the kitchen space itself which holds fond memories of learning and love.

i started cooking with her around age 8 and grew up watching food network with her, experiencing new foods and a wide variety of cuisines, and feeling the love and care around her making sure i was fed.

her kitchen itself was also a space for connection. before family gatherings or even just day-to-day meals, we would spend the whole day just cooking and talking. i also grew up watching my great grandpa, her father and a professional chef, filling the whole countertop making huge batches of empanadas and teaching me to make sure to have a bowl of ice water to cool your fingers when making pie dough for his strawberry rhubarb pie, just absorbing everything i could from watching them in action.

i have tears in my eyes as write this (and i honestly could write so much more) because of how big of an impact experiencing love through food had on me. she passed back in 2021 and i want to do my best to continue the lineage of cooks that helped me end up where i am today. i carry on your knowledge and love and will share it with everyone just as you did.

love you lots tutu! by @_tutus_kitchen_
