What an honor to co-host alongside the ever talented @jordan_coleman for @impactmagazine Black Women Defining Television celebration during Daytime Emmy Week in Beverly Hills. Held at the iconic Beverly Wilshire, the afternoon was a beautiful celebration of Black excellence, creativity, and the incredible impact of our stories in television. We gathered to celebrate CBS’s @beyondthegatescbs and its remarkable 15 Emmy nominations, while honoring the immensely talented Emmy nominees @karlamose , @thejasmineburke , and Emmy award winner @ambyrmichelle_ . There is something truly special about being in a room filled with such extraordinary talent. From women making their mark in television to visionary entrepreneurs and creatives, the energy, conversations, and connections were nothing short of inspiring. A very special thank you to @momentswithtunisha , the visionary and mastermind behind this beautiful experience. Her ability to bring together such an incredible community of people, while creating a space that feels both intimate and meaningful, is truly a gift. I left feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity, the wonderful people I connected with, and the reminder of just how powerful it is when we come together to celebrate one another. Here’s to continuing to create, connect, and make room for more of our stories to be told. 🤎💜💐 IMPACT Magazine | Daytime Emmys | Beverly Hills | Things to do in LA | Beyond The Gates | BlackExcellence | Salt Lake City | Sold On SLC | Bravo TV | CBS by @_tynaedwards
Salt Lake City Real Estate, but make it curated. An introduction for the ones who are new here… and a reminder for the ones who’ve been with me for awhile. I’m Tyna, your Utah HOME girl & team lead at @utahs.homegirls - and I don’t just sell here, I live here… and I love it. If you’ve been thinking about making a move, upgrading your space, or planting roots in a place that truly aligns with your lifestyle… you’re exactly where you need to be. Real estate, but elevated. Strategy, but intuitive. Homes, but with feeling. I help people find more than property in Salt Lake City… I help them find alignment, lifestyle, and the next version of home. When the timing is right, we’ll curate your next move with intention, precision, and a quiet kind of magic that makes everything click into place. What happens when a television series proves that Black stories, Black talent, and Black creative leadership can anchor an entire daytime drama? It creates possibilities that others can build upon. During IMPACT Magazine’s Black Women Defining Television experience, @_tynaedwards of Bravo’s Sold on SLC sat down with @marquitatenaya, who portrays Hayley Hamilton on CBS’s Emmy winning Beyond the Gates, for a conversation about the significance of the series and what its success could mean for the future of daytime television. Marquita spoke about how Beyond the Gates has set a new bar and is paving the way for more all-Black soaps to be developed and brought to life. That distinction matters. The significance of Beyond the Gates extends beyond its historic 15 Daytime Emmy nominations and wins. It is demonstrating what becomes possible when Black characters, experiences, relationships, and stories are given the space to lead an entire series. And perhaps the most important part of setting a new standard is what happens after. Who sees the possibility? Who gains the confidence to create? Who recognizes that there is room for another story, another production, and another generation of Black storytellers? That is how a breakthrough becomes a blueprint. We were delighted to have Marquita join us for this important gathering and grateful to Tyna for creating space for conversations that look beyond the performances to the cultural impact of the work. The goal isn’t simply to be the first. It’s to help make sure there can be a next. #IMPACTMagazine #MarquitaGoings #TynaEdwards #BeyondTheGates #BlackWomenDefiningTelevision by @_tynaedwards
As a matter of fact… 💐🩵 by @_tynaedwards
How much of June does @thejasmineburke identifies with? More than you might’ve thought. When @_tynaedwards of Bravo’s Sold on SLC sat down with Beyond the Gates star Jasmine Burke during IMPACT Magazine’s Black Women Defining Television experience, she asked a question that invited Jasmine to look beyond the character and reflect on the woman bringing her to life. How closely do June’s characteristics mirror your own? Jasmine described June as a heartwarming, people-loving woman, someone whose warmth and connection with others are central to who she is. But she also spoke to another important part of June’s journey: redemption. June is doing the work to make things right. Her story is a reminder that people are more than their past decisions, and that growth requires accountability, intention, and the willingness to change. There is something compelling about an actress finding pieces of herself in a character while also recognizing the parts of that character that are still evolving. For Jasmine, the conversation offered a glimpse into the connection between the performer and the person behind the role. Take a bow Jasmine! You’ve done an incredible job as June! We are grateful to Tyna for bringing these thoughtful conversations to the Executive Life Garden Lounge and giving our audience another perspective on the women defining television. Because sometimes, understanding the character begins with getting to know the woman. Watch the conversation and tell us: What do you think Jasmine and June have in common? #IMPACTMagazine #JasmineBurke #TynaEdwards #BeyondTheGates #BlackWomenDefiningTelevision by @_tynaedwards
Sometimes a moment from an interview becomes even more meaningful when you see how the story unfolds. During IMPACT Magazine’s Black Women Defining Television experience at the Executive Life Garden Lounge at the Beverly Wilshire, our correspondent, @_tynaedwards of Bravo’s Sold on SLC, sat down with Beyond the Gates star @ambyrmichelle_ and asked her a question: “Do you have your acceptance speech ready?” Ambyr’s answer? She did! And she made good on that confidence, taking home the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series! Ambyr Michelle, congratulations! Your win is a beautiful recognition of your talent, dedication, and the work you have put into your craft. We were honored to celebrate you during a historic year for Beyond the Gates, and even more excited to see you take home the award. And Tyna, we love that you captured this moment before the win! Your conversation is now a piece of Emmy history, and we are so glad you were there to ask the question. Congratulations again, Ambyr Michelle! #IMPACTMagazine #AmbyrMichelle #TynaEdwards #BeyondTheGates #DaytimeEmmys by @_tynaedwards
