mama wont let me go play in the garden :( by @_veerikamalik_

My kindness is not a silence
that tolerates disrespect.
It is a silence that keeps choosing,
understanding.
My heart catches in my throat.
Words gather there,
heavy with honesty.
I know I could hurt you.
I know exactly where.
But love asks me to loosen my grip.
To remember that pain often arrives
wearing another face.
So I swallow what
could become another wound.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Until patience, stretched thin
by the weight of grace, begins to fray.
Kindness is not endless.
It is a river
It flows, it nourishes,
it forgives.
But even rivers have banks.
And every river knows
when it has carried more
than it was ever meant to hold.
When I finally speak,
it will not be because
I have stopped loving…
It will be because I have started
loving myself enough
to stop mistaking endurance
for compassion. by @_veerikamalik_
