Over the last three years, there has been a nearly 30 per cent increase in the number of women killed in domestic and family violence related homicides.
On average, a woman in Australia dies every 7 days from domestic and family violence.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women face further disproportionate impacts, as they are eight times more likely to be victims of homicide.
* 1 in 4 women in Australia has experienced violence by an intimate partner.
* 1 woman is killed every 10 days by a current or former partner.
* 1 in 13 men (about 7.8%) have also experienced intimate partner violence.
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are up to 32 times more likely to be hospitalized due to family violence than non-Indigenous women.
* Police respond to a domestic violence incident every 2 minutes across the country.
* In 2024, 103 women were killed, and as of April 2025, at least 24 more have already died from violence.
