bw from assateague island! wow october flew by by @aaaaalilac

Aquarium (the song) is now 10 days old 𓆝 ⋆｡𖦹°‧ Thank you so much for listening, watching, and reaching out with your kind words, it truly means the world to me :')

Looking back on filming the MV, the main emotions I can recall are joy and gratitude~

1-4: tiny tv time, ft. Aaron's jade plant, the star of the "Red Line" video

5: @chelseaa.chen filming @aaaaalilac dance with the slice of light beaming around the window shade. We had different plans originally, but the light beam was a discovery we made on the day and we knew we had to change course as soon as we saw it on camera

6-7: dinner scene crew <3 huge thanks to @petitehoneybee for welcoming us into her beautiful home and all the friends who descended on this table to make each other laugh, eat soup, and pass the same plate of dumplings back and forth over and over again

8: a little while before filming, with the secondhand twin mattress I bought off fb marketplace crammed into the back of Aaron's car

9-10: it was so cold that night on the beach. I wore 2 pairs of socks because the original plan was to have me get in the water, which we thankfully decided wasn't necessary

11-12: dream team!!! ♡ so grateful to these two for facilitating/being down for all these adventures

Another huge thanks again to @aaaaalilac for making this video possible, and to @bradr for making this music possible!!

Full EP is out on 11/11 𓆟 𓆞⋆. 𓆝 by @aaaaalilac

Aquarium (the song) and the accompanying music video are out now! Listen anywhere except sp*tify. Full EP out on 11/11 𓆝 ⋆｡𖦹°‧

I wrote Aquarium as a plea for time to slow to my pace. I later came to understand it as a song about the loneliness, isolation, and resistance to change that can come with grief. But looking back on the making of this song and video, I see how the process was full of connection and joy. 2 years of growth and sonic memories are frozen into this track, and all of it has softened the fears I wrote from to begin with.

I'm so, so grateful for all the friends/collaborators credited below, who lent their time and talents to this music!! In particular, thank you to @bradr, who has been my co-schemer at every step of making the record - I could not have done it without them. And thank you to @aaaaalilac, for dreaming up this MV with me and making it possible, and for inspiring it with their dancing.

some paintings from this spring! also got in the habit of painting on ikea shelves ive been finding on the street. not for any commentary or anything. once primed they're perfect! thick, blocky, repurposed wood blocks ☺️ also really cute aspect ratios, typically 4:3 or something - my favorite 🌷

1. slow in paint, back in a thick oils mood, but trying to find more graphical approaches to it that feel like me!
2. a bluebird gift for mom for mothers day
3. blocky flower!
4. engraving practice!
5. had some spare paint
6. scaredy cat
7. big jellyfish... tbh idk if this one is finished yet i might paint over it

sometimes things are high concept. sometimes its just closeups of pigeons! pigeon pigeon pigeonnnn !! so filled with attitude!! so graceful! i lov them by @aaaaalilac

i used to love graph paper. those lines tilling across & down the page, constructing wells to hold little snippets of ideas in each cell. each the size of an egg! no more. its how my brain worked back then! & i loved it. now, i cant stand the thought of a grid cutting up my thoughts. ive grown up i suppose
