The Man Behind It All.

Hi, I'm Aaron Alvares, and this is my photography page on Instagram. I'm a self-taught photographer based in Bahrain, and I've taken photos of things for almost over 14 years.

I'm into many different types of photography - mainly animals, birds, vehicles, flowers, and action scenes, but you'll see all my different types of photos taken over the years.

If you like what you see, follow my page for more. New posts and reels will be uploaded roughly 3-4 times a week, depending on what I have in store. It also helps if you share my existing content as reposts, DMs and stories, interact with it through likes and comments, or if you can save the posts I create.

Thanks so much for reading this. Make sure you read all the captions so that you don't miss the details 😁✌️

The Bodies I Use.

The Nikon D7100 is the 24.2 MP DSLR camera I have used the longest. It's captured many of the photos you see on my page. Some of them are of F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, extreme sports stuntman Lee Bowers, and birds like the African Grey Crowned Crane and the Egyptian Vulture, animals like the Saluki and the Horse, and many others.

The Nikon Z8 is my 45.7 MP mirrorless full frame camera. We got it this year and it has been nothing short of amazing. I had the chance to test it out recently and some of the photos I've shot are awesome. This includes the parrots I've photographed in August and the stage performer who played St. Francis of Assisi in September.

I started off on a Sony Alpha SLT-a57, but these are now my two main bodies.

Which cameras do you use, everyone? Let me know in the comments! 😁✌️

The Nikkor lenses I use.

For this, I'm going left to right, up to down.

1. AF-S Nikkor DX VR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED Aspherical lens.

This has been the main lens in my DSLR camera kit for 7 years. It is now packaged as a kit lens, but it was my best all-purpose lens.

2. AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Telephoto lens.

This is my sports and outdoor photography lens. This is the DSLR lens I use to capture Formula One Race Cars and objects from larger distances - birds and other animals, for example. This was another lens in my camera kit.

"Eat This Bread and Drink This Wine....."

This was an impromptu portrait shoot during yesterday's mass conducted by H.E. Bishop Aldo Berardi and the priests at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia. This was a mass conducted for All Saints' Day. A day dedicated to the saints of Christianity.

I want to draw your attention to the attire worn by the Bishop and the details woven into the robes as he conducts the ceremony of the breaking of the body of Christ.

Taka no Mē ME-Hawk (Hawk Eyes)

The title of the caption is a reference to the One Piece swordsman, Dracule Mihawk. The bird in the photos is a Red Tailed Hawk found in Bahrain, a country in the Middle East (ME).

This bird of prey is native to North America. It is present across the continent, especially in Alaska and Canada. It is a bird that sits and waits for its prey. Usually, smaller animals like rats, lizards, and snakes.

It is an older set of photos, taken with the D7100 at the Mohammed bin Zayed Wildlife Park and Reserve here in Bahrain.

Nikon FTZ II adapter: The Bridge between DSLRs and Mirrorless Cameras.

READ THE CAPTION

People, if you're still using Nikon DSLRs and you wanna enter the mirrorless world, this is for you. The FTZ II Adapter is a must-have during the beginning stages of your transition. Like everything, it has its pros and cons.

Pros 👍

1. You can use your existing Nikon F-mount lenses without having to spend money on buying new Z lenses right away.
2. Easier to use with battery packs for cameras like the Z6, Z7, Z8 and the built-in battery pack of the Z9.
3. Seamless compatibility for AF-S, AF-P and AF-I lenses. The lens in my video is an AF-S Nikkor DX VR 18-140mm.
4. Weather-sealed: Same level of weather protection as the Z-series mirrorless cameras

Cons 👎

1. No built-in auto-focus motor: This means that lenses like the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Telephoto lens must be used manually
2. No Tripod socket: The first version had a tripod mount.
3. Limited compatibility with third party F-mount lenses - lenses made by Sigma and Tamron may not work for the mirrorless cameras without firmware updates
4. Adds length and depth: This can be an inconvenience for some, but it is an acceptable trade-off for using something so amazing.

Would you consider buying the FTZ II Adapter now that you know about it?

Groom Elegance Series Five: Essence

This series of photos captures the details of the wedding attire worn by Arab grooms at their weddings. It covers the details of the bisht, the thobe, the ghutra, and the agal. I've explained what these adornments are in my first series.

These photos were taken at Al Murjan Ballroom in the Mövenpick Hotel @movenpickbahrain on Saturday, October 10th, 2026 at the "Groom Elegance" photography workshop organized by @kjm.photographer.

Groom Elegance
Series Three: Pearls and Elegance.

This new series from the Groom Elegance workshop features the third model, wearing a black besht and carrying a ceremonial walking stick called the asah and a string of pearls called the misbaha. This is my first post, where I've taken photos using a prime lens. And these are also the first photos I've ever taken while using a prime lens.

Trivia: The Asah is a ceremonial walking stick that is carried by grooms, sheikhs, and dignitaries. It's a status marker - the more intricate the decorations on the asah, the higher the person's status. The misbaha is a string of beads carried by Arab men everywhere. It is used to count "dhikr", the number of times a phrase praising God is depicted. This applies to Arabic phrases like "Subhan Allah", among others.

Groom Elegance
Series One: Swish of the Besht.

This was a workshop on capturing the elegance that grooms in traditional Arab weddings traditionally exude. This is the first series of photos I'll be posting from the workshop over the coming days.

Trivia: The traditional Arab groom's wedding attire consists of the thobe (the white ankle length robe), the besht (the black gold-trimmed ceremonial cloak), the ghutra (the white scarf worn over the head) and the agal (the black cord that is worn over the ghutra to secure it in place.)
