Had the absolute pleasure of covering the Opening Night for AVA: The Secret Conversations at New York City Center 🖤 This intoxicating new play pulls back the velvet curtain on the life and legacy of Hollywood icon Ava Gardner, brought to life with elegance, ferocity, and vulnerability by the incredible Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey), who also penned the piece, adapted from the memoir Ava co-authored with journalist Peter Evans.

Directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand to God, Present Laughter), the show dives deep into the myth and the woman behind it — messy, magnetic, and unforgettable. Also starring the brilliant Aaron Costa Ganis with the incredible supporting cast of Chris Thorn rounding Congrats to the entire team on a beautiful opening! 🎭📸

“Ava: The Secret Conversations” begins performances July 24 and will open Aug. 7. It will play a strictly limited engagement through Sept. 13. Tickets go on sale April 22.

The production is directed by Tony nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel, whose Broadway work includes “Hand to God” and “Present Laughter.” It is produced by Karl Sydow. Scenic design is by David Meyer, costume design is by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design is by Amith Chandrashaker, sound design is by Cricket S. Myers, projection design is by Alex Basco Koch and wig design is by Matthew Armentrout. Production Stage Manager is Avery Trunko. General management is by Pemberley Productions. by @nymovesmagazine
