A little post-race 1/12 photo dump from the Bahrain 🇧🇭 F1 GP in Malaysia! 🏎️🏁🇲🇾

Fast cars, roaring engines, lots of walking and waiting in queues, unpredictable weather, heavily delayed race, more race drama and some pretty awesome memories along the way. Until the next one!

A piece of Malaysian F1 history 🇲🇾🏎️

Finally got to meet Alex Yoong @alexyoongf1 — Malaysia’s first, and still our only, Formula 1 race driver.

He made his F1 debut with Minardi @minardi_official at Monza in 2001, racing the European Minardi PS01 alongside a young Fernando Alonso @fernandoalo_oficial , who would go on to become a two-time Formula 1 World Champion.

Minardi itself has quite a fascinating legacy. The team was bought by Red Bull @redbullracing from Paul Stoddart in 2005, beginning the lineage:

Minardi → Scuderia Toro Rosso → AlphaTauri → RB / Visa Cash App RB → Racing Bulls @visacashapprb

So the Racing Bulls team we see on the grid today can trace its roots directly back to the Minardi team Alex once drove for.

The moment was made even more special by getting Alex to sign my 1:43 Minardi PS01 model from the 2001 Italian Grand Prix — representing the car and race that marked the beginning of his Formula 1 journey.

More than two decades later, it’s still pretty remarkable to think that a Malaysian made it all the way onto the Formula 1 grid, competing alongside drivers who would go on to become some of the biggest names in the sport. 🇲🇾

A small model, but now a very special piece of Malaysian motorsport history in the collection. @f1

Thursday evening around the pits at Sepang. 🏁🇲🇾

Pit walk, truck tour around the circuit, and familiar faces everywhere — Toto Wolff, Gabriel Bortoleto, plus Bottas, Alonso, Ocon and Albon cycling their way around the track. And of course, Kym Illman — the man behind so many iconic F1 paddock shots. 📸

What an experience seeing the circuit from this side of the barriers.

United Weekends 🔴⚪️⚫️

Some weekends just seem to revolve around @manutd

From watching Luke Shaw @lukeshaw , hat trick hero @brunofernandes8 and @cunha emerge from the tunnel after the Ipswich game, to a trip to Carrington and somehow catching @kobbie making a rare stop for the fans.

I’d brought along my Mainoo third kit without really expecting anything… then Starboy rolls up in his new dark green Porsche, stops, and signs it. Sometimes you just have to believe the universe is listening.

Carrington also brought some familiar faces in Michael Carrick @carras16 and Steve Holland, before it was back home for another United weekend — watching the Everton game with the usual @klmancunianreddevils crew at our local hangout.

And somehow that same weekend also included meeting Park Ji-sung @jisungparkofficial , Wes Brown @wes_brown24 and Edwin van der Sar @edwinvandersar1 at MATTA Fair. Three more names from so many great United memories.

Players. Legends. Carrington. Matchdays. Supporters.

Different places, same club. ❤️

And now… DERBY NIGHT.

Hoping all these United weekends are leading up to one very good result tonight. 🤞🔴

Four years since I last walked through the doors of Old Trafford, and it felt special to finally be back. 🏟️🔴

A proper return to the Theatre of Dreams — this time experiencing matchday from the Hotel Football @hotelfootballuk Stadium Suite, with pre-match hospitality, a three-course meal and a memorable Q&A with Ryan Giggs @ryanjgiggs

Even better to share the occasion with a good friend @ysyew928 , who flew over from Munich to Manchester for the match.

And what a game to return for — a crushing 5–2 United win over Ipswich, a Bruno Fernandes @brunofernandes8 hat-trick, and an outstanding performance from starboy @kobbie . 🔥

Old Trafford under the lights, pouring Manchester rain, five United goals and three points. Couldn’t have scripted the return much better.

Four years away. One place I’ll always come back to. ❤️

🇩🇪 ICEM26 Hamburg — what a conference.

First ever in-person International Conference on Emergency Medicine (ICEM) @icem2026 after previously only managing to present virtually at ICEM Melbourne in 2022, where I shared our experience developing Borneo’s first COVID-19 field hospital.

Four years later, it felt pretty special to finally be here in person — and to return with three poster presentations collaborating with @cmwqh and @zhloo92 with one of the posters incredibly being nominated for Best Poster at the conference. 🙌

A few highlights from an unforgettable few days:

🫀 Meeting Prof Amal Mattu — ECG guru and absolute legend. Managed to get him to sign my copy of ECGs for the Emergency Physician / Acute, Critical and Emergency Care, and of course attended the ever-popular Pre-Congress Emergency Cardiology stream.

📺 A virtual hello from Dr Robby / Noah Wyle @therealnoahwyle from The Pitt @thepittofficial during the opening ceremony — definitely not something I expected on the programme! He couldn’t make it to the conference as he is busy filming for The Pitt Season 3.

🫁 Meeting Dr Jim DuCanto, creator of the DuCanto suction catheter and the man behind the SALAD (Suction Assisted Laryngoscopy and Airway Decontamination) technique — one of those names and techniques we encounter so often in emergency airway training, suddenly standing right in front of you.

🤓

👨‍⚕️ Reconnecting with an IMU batchmate whom I hadn’t seen since graduation — now a fully fledged Emergency Physician practising in Australia. Amazing how EM can bring people back together years later, halfway across the world.

🎧 And quite possibly the best conference opening ceremony I’ve experienced — an Emergency Physician/DJ behind the turntables, lights down, beats going, and an international EM conference briefly feeling more like a club in Hamburg. 😂

And then there was the ICEM Marketplace — probably one of my favourite parts of the conference. Wander in, pick a station and somehow walk away having learnt another random but surprisingly useful EM skill. Exactly the kind of hands-on learning that makes Emergency Medicine so enjoyable.

From Hamburg’s cult club St Pauli to Germany’s most decorated football giant @fcbayern

The next stadium stop was the iconic Allianz Arena, home of FC Bayern Munich. Although the pitch was hidden beneath protective flooring following Linkin Park’s concert the previous weekend, it didn’t take away from the experience.

Opened in 2005, the Allianz Arena was originally shared by Bayern Munich and city rivals TSV 1860 München until 1860 moved out in 2017. Today, the striking stadium, with a capacity of around 75,000 spectators, is one of the most recognisable football venues in the world, famous for its illuminated exterior that glows in Bayern’s iconic red on matchdays.

The contrast with our visit to FC St. Pauli couldn’t have been greater. Just days after seeing a club defined by its rebellious identity despite finishing bottom of the Bundesliga and suffering relegation, I find myself at the home of Germany’s serial champions—a club where success has become tradition. Bayern once again finished top of the Bundesliga, adding yet another league title to a trophy cabinet that is the envy of European football.

Two clubs. Two very different stories. One built on culture and counterculture, the other on relentless excellence. Yet both remind us that football is about far more than what happens over 90 minutes. #fcbayernmünchen #bayernmunich #MUN1999 by @aaronlai23

A visit to the legendary Millerntor-Stadion, home of ⚓️ FC St. Pauli — Germany’s famous cult club.

More than just a football club, St. Pauli is known worldwide for its anti-establishment identity, passionate fan culture, and community values. The iconic Jolly Roger skull and crossbones has become the club’s second identity.

One of the highlights of the stadium tour was walking through the players’ tunnel. Bathed in red light, covered in graffiti, and dominated by a giant Jolly Roger ☠️, it’s designed to intimidate visiting teams long before they step onto the pitch.

A visit to the dressing room gave us a glimpse into the players’ world. One locker belonged to Australian captain @jacksonirvine_ who had already departed to join the Socceroos for World Cup duty — though a handwritten note left behind. The club also boasts a few Asian players - Taichi Hara @_taichihara , Tomoya Ando @tomo_andy0110 and Joel Chima Fujita @joel_fujita0216

Unfortunately the team finished bottom of the Bundesliga 25/26 table and suffered relegation back to 2. Bundesliga this season. At the Millerntor, football is more than results — its culture, identity, and belonging.

Bethel Music Tour in KL @bethelmusic

A good night of praise, presence, and gentle reminders. 🙌

In the middle of all the toiling, the long days, and the unseen sacrifices—God is still good. This night felt like a pause to breathe, reflect, and just be grateful for His presence through it all.

A simple reminder that what we’ve sown in faith will bear fruit in His perfect time. 🌿
