it’s my birthday🌹🪐✨ happy to be here, and so happy you’re here too. ty to the incredible @landonspeers for capturing me at my best: grounded, confident, hopeful! and to the mall photographer in the 90s for capturing me at my resting state: thinking about playstation 👾 by @aaronmedwards
hi 🫶🏽 i’m a featured performer at the Resonate Festival at @icavcu this year, along with some brilliant folks. it was a real honor to be invited. i’ll be doing a piece about the sounds that keep me going these days: from melodic voice memos and stage directions of a play I love, to an instrument my jamaican maroon ancestors used to communicate while fighting settler colonialism. what’s old is new. november 8 at 11am in the auditorium. it’s sold out but hope to see you there if you’re going!! live scoring and sound design by @lucylittlemusic ❤️‍🔥 by @aaronmedwards
big ty to @nyscouncilonthearts for awarding me a $10K artist grant for 2026❣️and to @uniondocs for sponsoring me. really moved by the support, grateful to get my first grant from my home state. i’ll be using it to develop some audio-driven stage work that i’ve been dreaming up for a few years. excited to share more soon! by @aaronmedwards
🎶 🔊 LIVE FREQUENCY — A Night of Audio-Driven Performances Opening our doors this Thursday Night (DEC 11) to the inaugural cohort of our Audio & Performance Lab: a group of seven boundary-pushing artists who’ve spent the last months weaving sound, memory, history, feeling, grief, hope — and everything in between — into a collection of original live performances. Expect sonic experiments and immersive performances that question what it means to hear the unheard, to feel the invisible, and to transform memory into sound. Each piece traces a path between the personal and the political — archival voices, intimate memories, resonant textures, and radical vulnerability. It’s an invitation to listen differently with this incredible set of artists and performers: @theahmedashour @j_n_b @_audreychou__ @warnermeadows_ @reidjenkinsmusic @_valeriaapijuan @hmrehak Quoting our illustrious Program Director, @aaronmedwards you can expect … “performances in the dark, in the light, through cassette tapes and cameras. about love, loss, surveillance and protest.” Huge thanks to additional mentors for the lab @lisaannschonberg @cmdjazmine 🔗 RSVP via link in bio. Bring friends, bring curiosity, bring your ears wide open — searing is limited! See ya there! by @aaronmedwards
🌲🌲 today marks the end of my 4 weeks as an artist in residence at @macdowell1907🌲🌲 i watched the seasons change from my studio, wrote the first draft of a new hourlong TV pilot, wandered off wooded trails, debuted some in-progress audio work, cried a lot, danced a lot, recalibrated my center, and met some incredible people. i’m so very thankful, and feel forever changed by this magical place 🦌🧚🏽‍♂️ by @aaronmedwards
