Brazil welcomed me with strangers who felt like family, encounters with like-minded travelers, and unmatched natural beauty. I was swept up in the rhythm, joy, and the deep pride woven throughout the culture and was able to rewrite stories born from fear and ignorance. But as I explored the cities, I couldn’t unsee the invisible lines, the class divide between Afro-Brazilians living the culture and those simply consuming it. It humbled me and served as blatant reminder that the privileges born from colonialism are still deeply etched into society, everywhere. Still, what stays with me is the kindness of every Brazilian I encountered and a hope for a better future for the underprivileged communities in their country. Until next time, Brasil. ⛰️ Cadillac Mountain of Acadia state park is actually the highest point on the eastern seaboard of the U.S.! I saw the most beautiful sunrise I’ve ever seen, teared up over a woodpecker family, and witnessed a proposal. by @abbyandrean

Hello Instagram :). I’ve had a VERY eventful year and no posts to show for it! In ADHD fashion, better late than never. Anyway, thanks @stephaaziz for being the best host and showing me around Denver! You’re one of those people who allow me to truly be myself 💜 by @abbyandrean

Spent 10 days exploring Kyoto/Osaka during 🌸 Sakura season and making day trips to Himeji Castle and Arashiyama! I’ve fallen in love with the western side of Japan when I thought I couldn’t love the country any more. So worth the journey, especially with the JR Pass. Until next time!! #kyoto #sakuraseason #japan #travel #blackgirltravel #cherryblossom #himeji #japantrip #japantravel #arashiyama #monkey #arashiyamabambooforest #blackgirlmagic #spring #springinjapan by @abbyandrean
