🌈 Happy Sunday 🌈

It’s my stop today on the 2026 #QueerBookstagramTour!! I’m so happy to be participating again and I so thankful to @djreadsbooks and @foreverinastory for putting the tour together!!!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a “Meet the Bookstagrammer” post so I figured I’d make a post with some fun facts as well as a couple of Pride stacks and some queer recommendations that I’ve read and loved over the past year! 🥰

QOTD: What are some queer books you’re looking forward to reading?

Happy Pride!!! 🏳️‍🌈 by @abbysbookspace

QOTD: where did your lore start? by @abbysbookspace

This feels chaotic, but I had fun making it ☺️

(Also hi, it’s been forever since I last posted and I don’t know if I will return to being more active just yet but I miss you all and I hope you’re all doing what you can to take care of yourselves 💛) by @abbysbookspace

📚 Happy Wednesday📚

Today I wanted to share a review for Nightcurse by Emma Hinds (@elphreads) as part of the Colored Pages Book Tour Influencer Campaign!!

***

I really loved watching Emrys grow throughout the course of the book. He starts out as an unsure, undead, perpetual teenager who doubts himself and his capabilities, and has never really experienced much of the outside world. Throughout the book, however, we get to see him be brave, go on adventures, learn more about the world and the people around him, discover things about himself, and stand up for not only himself, but also the people he loves and the place he calls home.

One thing I definitely appreciated was that both the friendship and the relationship between Emrys and Aubrey feels earned. It doesn’t happen right away, and both characters have to put in the work to be on the same page. And it’s really fun to get to see the development occur over the course of the book.

The world of Nightcurse is incredibly fascinating. It was really cool to get a glimpse into the world of the story’s witches and shapeshifters and to see how each group has their own customs and cultures. And watching the characters encounter ghosts and mermaids and different characters out of folklore was absolutely delightful.

Overall, I had a fantastic time accompanying Emrys (and Aubrey and Sosa and Tommy and the rest of the well rounded cast) on his journey of self-discovery and solving mysteries and learning magic and falling in love.

Nightcurse releases 10 November 2026 and is a perfect for those who love a good fall read, who love magic and folklore and ghost stories, or who are looking for a beautiful story with found family and queer romance.

Thank you so much to @wednesdaybooks for the eARC and thank you @coloredpagesbt for letting me partake in the tour!!

I’d like to officially introduce you to my second novel: BLACK BILE.

Based in a fantasy world where the four humours are *actually real*, and where the only way to die is for breathing to cease, BLACK BILE is a gothic fantasy body horror extravaganza about guilt, greed, and grief. This isn’t what I’d planned to write for my second novel… but my entire world turned upside down with my mom’s unexpected passing. I needed somewhere to put my anger & my agony, and these characters — this world — gave me that. Writing during grief has been so hard, this book has been so hard, and I’m grateful my agent & my editor have been so supportive through the entire process. I can’t wait for you to meet Kitty & Sorrow.

Any questions? 👀 I’d love to answer. by @abbysbookspace

I wrote this book to give a happy ending to the kinds of characters who are so often forgotten… and I’m floored by this recognition. Thank you to the readers who nominated Fairytale for the @indieinkawards. Thank you to the judges who decided this book should win not one but TWO awards. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with praise, support, and encouragement since its release. It truly means the world. 🦢 by @abbysbookspace

👻 Happy Friday 👻

QOTD: Have you read any good horror books recently? Or if you’re not a horror fan, what’s the last five star book you’ve read?

I am a pretty big horror fan at any given time, but for some reason, I’ve really been gravitating this summer towards books that are of the dark and frightening variety. Therefore, I’ve picked up quite a lot of horror books over the past few months that I am (slowly but surely) working my way through, and I figured I’d show them off in a good old fashioned #FridayFlatlay by @abbysbookspace

🌻 Happy Tuesday 🌻

And happy Sapphic September!!

I wanted to put together a little TBR for Sapphic September based on some of the audiobooks I’ve bought recently and some that I’d had on hold at my library!

I’ve been looking forward to all of these for a while so I’m really excited to start this TBR!!

Books Featured:
The Maiden and Her Monster - Maddie Martinez
That Which Feeds Us - Keala Kendall
Gearbreakers - Zoe Hana Mikuta
Where There’s Smoke… - Aricka Alexander
Plain Bad Heroines - Emily M. Danforth
The Starving Saints - Caitlin Starling

Are there any books you’re hoping to read for Sapphic September?? 🌻 by @abbysbookspace

☀️ Happy Monday ☀️

This past weekend I should have been working the opening weekend of our local Renaissance Festive buuuut I was sick at home instead 🥲

I never enjoy being sick (I mean, does anyone?) and I also hate when it happens during a time where I have plans that I’ve been looking forward to, but there is a small part of me that admittedly appreciates being able to stay home and rest and catch up on my reading.

And I have quite a few eARCs that I’m really excited for that I hope I can use this sick time to catch up on!

My hopeful TBR:
From Beijing with Love - Bei Lin
How I Met Your Murderer - Sarah Glenn Marsh
Strange Cases - riotbones by @abbysbookspace

🪦 Happy Tuesday 🪦

And the happiest of release days to “The Halls of the Dead” by S. M. Hallow (@smhallowink)!!

After absolutely loving “How to Survive This Fairytale” back in early 2025, I was ready to read literally anything S. M. Hallow wrote. So when “The Halls of the Dead” was announced, I was automatically interested. And then, when I found out the book was a gothic fantasy/horror about necromancers in Victorian-era London featuring a queer and poly romance? Well, I knew I had to get my hands on this book as soon as I could!!

“The Halls of the Dead” is both achingly tender and brutally gory. It’s a story focused on loss and revenge, love and creation.

Thank you so much to @harpervoyagerus for sending both an ARC and a gifted final copy!! I know there’s still a decent chunk of 2926 left, but I can guarantee that “The Halls of the Dead” has more than earned a place as one of my favorite reads of the year! by @abbysbookspace

7 days. 1 week. Next Tuesday, the last 5 years of my life hits bookstore shelves. THE HALLS OF THE DEAD is a gothic horror romance set in a magical version of Victorian London, and follows three necromancers as they pursue revenge, romance, and resurrection. I’m a funny, light-hearted person, but this book… isn’t. I had to get the memes out somewhere, okay???? (Shoutout to @ashintheashes and @reena.mccarty for letting me share the St. John/Sinjin Debacle in public.)

If you enjoyed…

📚The Death of Jane Lawrence
📚The Locked Tomb
📚Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil
📚A Dowry of Blood
📚Mexican Gothic

… then you simply cannot miss my debut novel. I’ll be in Brooklyn at @twistedspinebooks the 17th at 6pm, Paramus at @bnparamus the 18th at 6:30pm, and Poughkeepsie at @theblankslateshop the 22nd at 11am. (With virtual events later this month!)

stay memeing out there 🫡 btw are you pronouncing his name “Saint John” or “Sinjin”?

I had to commemorate my debut novel with an original artwork! Kinda fun to use my own hands as a reference, when it was my hands that wrote this novel… I’ll stop before I get too philosophical 🤪
