Excited to announce that Mondele is fully completed, and we are entering our film festival run. This film literally took a village, and I’m forever grateful to my amazing cast and crew who poured everything into this project!

”MONDELE” is a coming-of-age short film that follows mother and son Mary and Nathan, who immigrated from the Democratic Republic of Congo to the Midwest of America. The film explores culture clashes, following your dreams, and finding yourself.

Our crowdfunding campaign is live! (Link in bio)

If you’ve been following my filmmaking journey, you’ll know ‘Mondele’ is a deeply personal project. Migrating from the Congo at the age of nine to Portland, Maine, I wasn’t ready for the identity crisis of trying to fit in and find my voice in a new country while learning a new language and culture. Watching and creating movies with my friends was the first place I felt that I belonged in this new country. This film is a small but personal reflection of that journey as a young immigrant kid.
Over the past few months, this movie has rocked me in all the best and hard ways. Sharing your story on screen is awkward, weird, and deeply uncomfortable, but I’m so glad I got over my fear!

With the help of my incredible wife, Sariah, the Saint Louis west side community, @mercury_films Angie Lawing, Micah-Daniel Lewis, and my DP @bigmilkhog J and AD @pegfilm , along with one of my good friend/story partner @nathanielbriner , I began pre-production in January 2023, and we shot this thing in August.
It’s been an incredible journey with MANY ups and downs (for example, winning a grant and then immediately after having our lead actor get stuck in Congo)…

…Making movies is hard!
But I’m so proud of this thing, and we are so close! We are working with some talented folks to add all the finishing touches, then plan on finishing ‘Mondele’ and sharing it out to festivals in February 2024. Any contributions you make will go towards paying our post-production team and festival fees.

Mondele is a coming-of-age film that focuses on the vibrant world of Nathan, a young Congolese immigrant teen navigating his passion and fulfilling his mother’s wishes. It’s a heartwarming journey that explores an often overlooked experience - It’s an adventure filled with laughter, heart, and a touch of movie magic 🎥✨

After wrapping up filming in August, we’re now embarking on the post-production phase, where the movie comes alive - Here’s where YOU come in – we need your support to bring Mondele to its full potential!
