I’ve often debated on whether or not to use my maiden name if my debut novel gets published. Either way, it’s something I’ve always been proud of. When I’m low on self-belief, I tell myself writing runs in my blood ❤️ by @abigail.roeller_writer

I’m on draft 3 of my middle grade novel: The Nine Lives of Don Ernesto. About a cat on his last life recounting his epic journey through his eight other lives. Old and full of regret, he lives as a stray in an alley. Will he get back to the one who loved him first?

These are the comparisons I think fit best for my book! Big journey, different lives, sarcastically funny side kick, love and loss and home- all the heartwarming goodies. by @abigail.roeller_writer

Hi I’m Abby. I’m on a journey to fulfill my wildest dreams - write a novel and have it published. I like whimsy and cottagecore and witches and magic and if that’s your vibe, follow me✨🧙🍃 by @abigail.roeller_writer

I haven’t posted in months. I haven’t written in months. Every time I go to sit at the computer, I stare at it and nothing comes out. I can’t even read books anymore. I don’t know if anyone out there cares. I’m lost and I’ve been lost for over a decade if I’m being honest. If I could pick one word to describe half of my life it would be: aimless. Zero direction. Zero idea of what or who I should be. And it’s embarrassing admitting that at the age of 35.

So yes. I stopped posting. I retreated. I’m not writing right now. But I found this poem I wrote months ago in my notes and it still resonates with me now. Maybe my dream is buried right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead and in the grave. Maybe it just means it’s a seed that needs a little water and time to grow. 🌱 by @abigail.roeller_writer

Little nuggets of hope on rainy days 🌧️ by @abigail.roeller_writer

ICYMI - My kids and I been reading books that also have movie adaptations. Once we finish the book, we throw a fun movie party. Everything from BFG to Charlotte’s Web to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Tonight was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone! I had so much fun making chocolate frogs and wands 🧙⚡️🪄 by @abigail.roeller_writer

Hi. I’m alive. I am taking the entire summer off of writing because… well… my kids are home for three months and I’m with them 24/7 and I can’t even poop without being interrupted let alone write.

What are we doing instead? Taking it slow. Painting, crafting, sculpting, dancing, playing and eating far too many ice creams. I don’t know what day it is. Or what time. My kids make me want to drink a bottle of rosè every night. (Maybe I do? I’ll never tell.)

I love you all, but social media has been hard or near impossible lately. May your summer be filled with sunshine and love and happiness 🌞 by @abigail.roeller_writer

If we could all see the world through the eyes of a child, we would see the magic in everything. ✨🧚🪄 by @abigail.roeller_writer

Happy 87th… I mean 7th birthday to my little old man. 👴🏼💕 by @abigail.roeller_writer

Maycember is upon us and I haven’t had the time to post or write as much as I *should* be doing. But I had the most beautiful hike yesterday with my kids and husband. My daughter and I found this little stream and we dipped our fingers in and collected rocks and smelled the cedar boughs that hung over the water. It was magical.

Take time to enjoy the sun on your face this week. It will do wonders. by @abigail.roeller_writer

What’s the longest break you’ve ever taken from writing? I’m curious! by @abigail.roeller_writer

Joining in the trend I’ve seen on Threads. These are from some of my favorite cozy movies 💕 Which one is your vibe? Movie list for those who are curious:

1. 2005 Pride & Prejudice
2. 1993 Secret Garden
3. Big Fish
4. 1994 Little Women (the better one IMHO)
5. Kiki’s Delivery Service
6. The Secret World of Arrietty
7. Tuck Everlasting
8. Matilda by @abigail.roeller_writer
