Awarded Best Actress for my performance as Tina in @latefallfilm at Rock the Shorts Film Festival in LA!

I am so grateful to @roxannemarciniak and to @ppatrickhogan for presenting the award.

Tina is a Boston mom with a toddler, working to pull her family out of an all-too-common early motherhood reality. She's carrying the mental load, contributing wages, managing the house, continuing education, all while holding onto a dream of a better life.

She projects her exhaustion and anger onto her partner, struggles to connect or ask for help and operates in survival mode. Underneath is her deep love for her child, a connection that's honest and real even when everything else is falling apart. But she is a fighter.

I'm so grateful to bring this film about early parenthood into the world. And to @aleciaorsini and @getken and the entire cast and crew.

Thank you to Roxanne and Patrick and the other jury members, @michele_labrucherie, @youngsimon43, @marshallcook, and @tom_van_avermaet, for honoring us with Best Actress and Best Drama.

If you're a director, producer, or casting director please check out my work. YouTube page with vids and website linked in bio.

Give me a follow and also check out more about the film @latefallfilm.

Mom on Set. Directing, acting, and mothering my toddler on the set of @latefallfilm. As a writer, you can prepare every line, but a toddler is totally unscripted and completely authentic... the perfect acting skills.

So grateful to the cast and crew who supported this dynamic. And I can't believe I made a film with my son, Leander Lucas. How unforgettable!

I wrote this script almost ten years ago. I wasn't a mother yet. Life caught up with the art.

There were many failures. But I wanted it made the right way.

I ended up casting my own son, directing with him on my back, and being his mother on screen.

I am so grateful to everyone who supported in making this happen,.

Late Fall. My directorial debut.

One week from today, we screen in Shirley. 💛

On Sat, Nov 7, Late Fall plays the Shirley Film Fest @shirley_film_fest Films screen between 12:00 and 3:00 and admission is free. The historic Meeting House has its own advice for the historic pews....bring "a cush for your tush." We love this festival already.

Let's spotlight Amanda Kuo, our Sophia. Sophia is the woman who appears to have everything money can buy, and @instamandakuo plays her with a stillness and grace that quietly undoes everyone around her. In a film about two people who can't see each other, she is the mirror they both have to face.

If you attend, come find me and say hello. Meeting the people this film has been finding is the best part of the festival road.

And one favor, if you have seen Late Fall, at @fastnetfilmfestival, @woodsholefilmfestival, or any of our other screenings, would you leave us a positive rating on Letterboxd or IMDb? Search "Late Fall" (2026).

A short film like ours travels on the kindness of its audience, and your words are how the next audience finds us. ⭐

Two Parents. Both Trying. Neither Sees It.
Winner, Best Drama, Best Actress, and Jury Award Nominee at @rocktheshortsfilmfest

Follow @latefallfilm and join the private screening list at latefallfilm.com/join.

Late Fall is a Finalist at the 20th Waterford International Film Festival in Ireland.

@waterfordfilmfest has spent two decades championing films from Ireland and around the world. Thank you to Stephen Byrne and the whole WIFF team for including us.

Late Fall is about two new parents who love each other and have stopped seeing each other. Neither one is the villain. If you have ever been that tired, or loved someone through that season, you will recognize it.

You can watch Late Fall on @eiretainment the Irish film streaming service, from November 15 to 21 as part of the festival.

Late Fall was filmed in Boston, and after our World Premiere at @fastnetfilmfestival in Ireland, it is wonderful to be back with Irish audiences.

Late Fall did not get into the Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival. Then Richard Paradise reached out, and today we screened at the Martha's Vineyard Film Society's Women in Film Festival. Reminding me that we never know what doors might open.

Thank you, Richard, and thank you @mvfilmsociety, for the invitation. It was my first time on Martha's Vineyard and it was a perfect trip. A beautiful theater and a wonderful audience and Q and A.

We shared the screen with some great women directors - @aubreyarnason's Kate and Jack Are Just Friends, @magichourmovie, @moniquesorgen's One Day in Sedona, and others! Go find them if you get the chance.

And if you had the chance to catch Late Fall, we would love a positive review on Letterboxd or IMDb. Both links are in my bio.

I love stories, so tell me yours: what was a no that turned into something good?

If early parenthood ever left you feeling unseen by the person right beside you, Late Fall was made for you.

It screens this Sunday, Oct 18, at 1pm at the Martha's Vineyard Film Society's Women in Film Festival.

@mvfilmsociety built this festival around stories that have not usually been told from a woman's perspective, and it means so much to have a film about the real, messy first years of parenthood in the lineup.

Late Fall is part of the Short Film Program at the Martha Vineyard Film Center. Two new parents, both trying, neither the villain.

Thank you to Richard Paradise for inviting us, and to every person on our cast and crew who made these minutes possible. Made with @aleciaorsini @getken @cprestamo @instamandakuo @iamdanielriosjr @kyledavidgregory. Full credits at latefallfilm.com.

If you're on the Vineyard, or you can catch the ferry, I would love to see you there.

Tickets are linked in our story and in the comments.

I'm a mom and I love stories, so tell me: what's one thing about early parenthood nobody warned you about?

The thing about community film festivals like @moniffig is that they're about more than a weekend screening.

Dee, who's run this festival for the past six years, has built a cultural resource for the Monadnock Region. It's more than a festival and has various community events like Movies Under the Stars that keep independent film alive all year long.

I only got to spend a short amount of time in Keene this year, and that brief visit showed me why I had heard such awesome feedback about Monadnock Film Festival.

It's the kind of festival that exists because one person decided independent storytelling deserved a permanent home in her community. And that's awesome!

So grateful to Dee for everything she's built and for making space for Late Fall.

Late Fall screened at Mystic Film Festival this weekend. The rain came and we spent the weekend watching films - perfect.

So grateful to @andersonshareen and Wendy S. Wilkins, the founders of @mysticfilmfest, for including @latefallfilm and creating such an awesome local New England event!

I got to see some amazing filmmakers' work, including @juliaqcoulter's film Road to L'Etape Du Tour. @fenneydreadful and @jrhammerer

So great meeting fellow filmmakers and celebrating independent film together in Mystic.

Up next @moniffig and @daddyingfilmfest

Abigail Jean Lucas @abigailjeanlucas—Best Actress Winner in LATE FALL @latefallfilm —Best Drama Winner @rocktheshortsfilmfest 2026! Lucas chats with @beth_lapides on the red carpet! #rocktheshortsfilmfestival #rocktheshortsfilmfest #shortfilm #independentfilm by @abigailjeanlucas

Late Fall started as a script, years before it ever became a film.

When people tell me how they resonated with the story, it always comes back to the writing. The script is the foundation.

We're five months into our festival run, and @latefallfilm has received some amazing official selections and awards! So I'm looking ahead at what's next.

I've written my next short film, Jane! I'm looking for writers who want to collaborate as consultants, just as @pacmanimal , Tania Sung, and @bough_tie did with Late Fall. It's a proof of concept exploring a kind of grief that so many carry quietly, a loss that society rarely gives us the language or the space to speak about openly. So we will get it on screen!

Late Fall has been received so well that the seed is planted and I am beginning to write the feature. I am interested in writer/producers who might want to participate in the writing process.

Stay posted for the roll out of my production company branding! I come from a sales and marketing background, and being an independent artist and entrepreneur feels natural to me.

If any of this speaks to you, follow along to stay updated.

Hope to see some of you at our upcoming festivals: @mysticfilmfest , @ladyfilmmakers , @riffrva , and @moniffig . If you're there, come introduce yourself.
