🚨 PARTY ALERT! 🚨 Catch us tonight at 7089 Vilakazi Street, Soweto for a full-on disco party, organised by @raretruthjohannesburg Big up to @luckydunywa and @lacasatropical for putting together such a great forum. I’ve really enjoyed being a resident DJ at this event since its inception, and I intend to hold down this residency until we make enough noise that the whole city knows about it. It’s always a pleasure playing alongside these cats. They keep me on my toes, push me musically and never let me get too comfortable behind the decks. Tonight, we dance. 🪩💃🏾🕺🏾 Come through and catch some serious disco heat. #AbijahRecordBar #Disco #Soweto #Vinyl #DiscoDJ DancefloorMaterial by @abijahrecordbar
From this… to this. What started with records stacked in crates, not having a single shelve but having a lot of faith and passion has slowly turned into a space we’re genuinely proud of. The first picture takes us back to the early days... digging, sorting, carrying, building and figuring things out as we went. The second is where we are now. Still the same love for the music. Still digging. Still hunting for the gems. But now there’s a proper home for it. Thank you to everyone who has supported Abijah Record Bar so far ..every purchase, visit, share, recommendation and conversation has played a part in getting us here. And honestly… we’re only getting started. In my books, this is the best kwaito record of all time. One of those records that captures the sound, energy and spirit of the era perfectly. The production, the groove, the vocals . everything just works. A proper South African classic. If you know, you know. #AbijahRecordBar #Kwaito #SouthAfricanMusic #Vinyl #VinylRecords Soweto by @abijahrecordbar
