The Artist, her art: Gele edition 🦋💚 by @abike_art

A new art piece titled ìyálóde, still under the Sisi Ologe series. ìyálóde refers to a highly prestigious chieftaincy title for women in traditional Yoruba kingdoms. She represents the voice of women in the king’s council. The background inspired by the pattern in ‘Sego Gele’, has enormous visual activity, the horse has lots of highlights, the woman’s clothing has extensive line work all this to show the vibrant and maximalist culture of Yoruba people in their traditional aesthetics, social celebrations and art forms.
