Starting over from scratch. Again. 👋
I’m Julie, mom of three, business owner, and someone who’s rebuilt life from zero more than once. We spent years overseas, moved to Texas, then Maryland, and every time it meant starting fresh.
So when I started this page, I did it the same way: blank slate. No followers I know, no safety net. Just me, sharing what’s actually worked for us, the money, business, home, and travel moves we’ve made by betting on ourselves.
I don’t have it all figured out. But I’ve lived some pretty incredible things, and I’ve got stuff to say.
If you’re starting over too, or going after something new, tell me what it is below 👇 I want to be the one cheering you on. #newchapter by @according_to_jules

Somewhere along the way, we started believing that success has an expiration date.

That by a certain age, we should have figured it out. Built the career. Found our purpose. Made something of ourselves.

And if we haven’t? Maybe we missed our chance.

But what if everything you’ve lived through, every setback, every year you spent figuring out who you are… wasn’t time lost?

What if it was preparation?

What if the most extraordinary thing you ever do is still ahead of you?

You’re not too late. You’re just getting started.

Thankful for the lessons. Not signing up for the sequel. by @according_to_jules

Start line ➡️ finish line.
The start line was boxes, paint swatches, and a lot of “are we sure about this?” The finish line is a space guests love, and a business that pays us back.
That’s the thing about betting on yourself: nobody claps at the start line. You just have to go.

What’s your start line? by @according_to_jules

From someone who may have given some ground away a time or two. by @according_to_jules

For anyone in their 2021 right now. 🤍 by @according_to_jules

Yesterday I said don’t wait for the hard part to be over. Today I want to talk about why.

That anxious, restless feeling isn’t always a warning. Sometimes it’s energy with nowhere to go. And the moment you start moving, even one small step, it starts to leave your body.

You usually know when you’re supposed to do something. That pull doesn’t go away. The waiting is what keeps the anxiety stuck.

I learned this in the middle of my hardest years, not after them.

What’s the thing you already know you’re supposed to do? Tell me below. 👇#newchapter #comebackstory #womenover40 by @according_to_jules

Let this be your sign to let the chaos fuel the fire that sets you in motion. You’ve got this. #newchapter #bet #allin by @according_to_jules

But letting it analyze our numbers changed the way my husband and I navigate our financial picture.

For a long time, so much of our financial life lived in my head. I knew what was coming in and going out, which cards had balances, and what I thought we should be doing differently.

So when Andy and I talked about money, I was usually filling him in. We made decisions together, but it didn’t always feel like we were starting from the same place.

AI changed that.

Instead of me doing all the analyzing and explaining my conclusions, we started giving AI the actual data: statements, income, spending, debt, interest rates, savings and goals.

Then we sat down and looked at what it showed us together.

The best part? We don’t have to be financial experts to start understanding our own money.

We can ask follow-up questions, compare options, run scenarios and catch things that don’t make sense. (For us, that included over $4,000 in reimbursements we had missed.)

If this sounds intimidating, I get it. I’m not comfortable handing the keys to our finances over to anyone, especially AI.

But you can give it the information you’re comfortable sharing and ask it to organize it, find patterns and show you where to look next.

Try:

• “What are our highest-interest debts?”
• “Where are we spending more than we realized?”
• “What happens if we put an extra $500/month toward this debt?”
• “What questions should we ask a financial professional?”
• “Break down our monthly fixed vs. discretionary spending.”

Or, in our case:

“Compare our spending before and after our move and help me figure out what our new normal actually costs.”

That information has been SO helpful.

We’ve started aggressively paying down high-interest debt, moved savings into a HYSA, begun reviewing our spending weekly, started building a retirement strategy and are working through tax strategies that can benefit us and our kids as they become young adults.

AI isn’t making our financial decisions for us.

It’s helping me get the information out of my head and in front of both of us so we can make those decisions together. #newchapter #couplesfinances #moneymindset by @according_to_jules
