message from Marice Cumber - founder of Accumulate Accumulate, The Art School for The Homeless, is changing! - it is now going to be part of @ravensbourneuk @raveoutreach team who are taking on the management of Accumulate's programme, projects and brand. Ravensbourne has been a big part of the Accumulate story from the outset - in fact, Accumulate began when I was working there in 2014 and we have continued to work together ever since. Many of the university's staff, tutors and students have been involved in directly running Accumulate's learning activities and, since 2017, more than 35 Accumulate participants have become students at the university via our scholarship scheme for Ravensbourne’s Access course, with some progressing to degrees and masters. Ravensbourne will now build on Accumulate's good work, impact and legacy and will be able to help more people with experience of homelessness to learn and develop their lives, skills and knowledge through creative education. It is, therefore, even more significant and innovative that Accumulate The Art School for the Homeless is now part of a university offer and the potential for impactful development is very exciting. And as for me - I am now going to be concentrating on my art practice (@maricecumber ) and hard as it was to make the decision to step down from Accumulate I knew it was the right one. For more info about Accumulate at Ravensbourne please DM @raveoutreach and thank you to everyone who has partnered, funded, supported and been a part of Accumulate, especially the amazing participants and tutors - it's been just brilliant! Thank you, Maricex hi by @accumulate_ldn
This is Nikol, who joined Accumulate workshops back in 2020 for The Radio Station For The Homeless project. She got an Accumulate scholarship to study on the Access course at Ravensbourne University London and got a DISTINCTION, she then progressed to BA Digital Photography and got a DISTINCTION and then she went onto the MFA Digital Photography and has now got a DISTINCTION for that!!! The story of Nikol’s amazing success is a the story of what happens when you break down barriers and open up opportunities for people who just need that little bit of extra help. We are just so hugely hugely proud of Nikol and all that’s she has achieved and become. Nikol is the story of Accumulate. @nikoldehaan @raveoutreach @dgp_ravensbourne @ravensbourneuk by @accumulate_ldn

The work Accumulate carries out in the community has huge impacts on the health and wellbeing of their participants, and it provides life-changing future opportunities and support networks. Creativity is widely understood to be vital for improving health and wellbeing, making social connections, building skills and social circles, as well as improving confidence and providing a sense of belonging. More great images from our recent woven art workshop at @barbicancentre Thank you @asha.vaidyanath for sharing your skills in helping us to create such a great communal woven artwork ❤️ 🌈 #thepowerofcreativity #accumulatelondon #weavingworkshop #weavingworkshops #learningtoweave #barbican #barbicanlondon #creativeworkshop #trysomethingnew #newskills #artforwellbeing #creativityfound #homelessness #youthhomelessness #londoncharity #smallcharity #artschoolforthehomeless by @accumulate_ldn
“Ultimately our goal is to create a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances.” - Marice Cumber, Accumulate Director. #thepowerofcreativity #accumulatelondon by @accumulate_ldn
Back to @barbicancentre to enjoy a fabulous session designing tote bags 🛍️ @radhikakhimji gave us a delicious peek into her spellbinding sketchbooks and practice before leading us in a ‘portrait’ workshop. Things seldom being quite what they seem, faces and body parts were sketched, abstracted, collaged, stitched and painted into unique creations. Engrossing and ingenious, this workshop tickled our talented group in very individual ways. Big thanks to Div and Sonia from @knmaindia , Matt and Jess from the Barbican and our workshop leaders for a stellar sessions! 😍🔥👌🏾 #thepowerofcreativity #accumulatelondon #designatote #totebagdesign #barbican #barbicanlondon #creativeworkshop #trysomethingnew #newskills #artforwellbeing #creativityfound #homelessness #youthhomelessness #londoncharity #smallcharity #artschoolforthehomeless by @accumulate_ldn
It was such a treat to be back at @barbicancentre for a serene day of visiting Encounters: Giacometti x Huma Bhaba and a weaving workshop. We were all moved in different ways by the sculptures that explored our humanity, connection to the landscape and collective trauma. With both artists using bronze, the ethereal and elongated contrasted beautifully contrasted with the towering and imposing human forms. To add to our delight, @asha.vaidyanath, in collaboration with @knmaindia, shared her own loom and practice with us in creating a communal woven artwork. Seeing participants collaborate and support each other is part of what makes Accumulate so special! Thanks everyone! 🙏🏾🥰🙌🏾 #thepowerofcreativity #accumulatelondon #weavingworkshop #weavingworkshops #learningtoweave #barbican #barbicanlondon #creativeworkshop #trysomethingnew #newskills #artforwellbeing #creativityfound #homelessness #youthhomelessness #londoncharity #smallcharity #artschoolforthehomeless by @accumulate_ldn
