Property tax relief should actually provide relief — without putting local services at risk.
ㅤ
SQ 847 would limit how quickly property values can rise for tax purposes, but it doesn’t guarantee your property tax bill will go down. Meanwhile, slower growth in local revenue could mean fewer resources for schools and other community services.

Before you check the box, know what’s at stake.

From record heat to record rain—Oklahoma weather keeps us on our toes. 🌧️
ㅤ
After Oklahoma’s hottest September on record, Oklahoma City received 5.59 inches of rain on October 14, setting a rainfall record for that date.
ㅤ
Rain can bring relief, but drought recovery takes time. This year’s dry wells, low streamflows and difficult farming and ranching conditions are reminders of why planning ahead matters.
ㅤ
Our reservoirs and water infrastructure help communities weather dry periods. As conditions improve, it’s a good time to prepare for the next drought.

If a fire started tonight, would everyone in your home know how to get out?
ㅤ
Before Fire Prevention Week ends, make and practice your home escape plan:
• Identify two ways out of every room.
• Keep doors and windows clear.
• Choose a safe meeting place outside.
• Plan for anyone who may need help escaping.
• Practice with everyone in your household.
ㅤ
If a fire occurs, get out, stay out and call 911 from a safe place outside. Tell the dispatcher your address and whether anyone is still inside.

Where do you charge your phone?
ㅤ
Fire Prevention Week is October 4–10, and this year’s focus is safe charging. Phones, laptops and other everyday devices use lithium-ion batteries that can pose a fire risk when damaged or used incorrectly.
ㅤ
Help protect your home:
🔌 Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
📱 Charge on a hard, flat surface—not a bed, couch or under a pillow.
🔋 Unplug your device when it is fully charged.
ㅤ
Take a look at your charging setup today. A few simple changes can help prevent a fire.
