Playing around with filter coffee lately 👌🏼 AeroPress + Sunrise Blend from @esplanadecoffeeco ☕️ Different way to enjoy a coffee I know really well through espresso - super smooth, sweet and seriously easy drinking. Might be getting hooked on this filter coffee thing 🤙🏼 by @active.eddie
An appreciation post for my wife ❤️ Meg, I’ve loved seeing you step outside your comfort zone and complete your Reformer Pilates course this week. The amount of energy and effort you’ve put into it has been so impressive, but what I find even more inspiring is seeing you follow something you’re genuinely passionate about - and go out and achieve something so awesome (in serious style hearing the feedback from your instructor!!). You’ve been in the (beautiful) trenches of parenting for years, with our kids always being your number one priority. And while I know they always will be, it’s been pretty special watching you rediscover a some drive and purpose in something outside our four walls too. I’m so proud of you. We all love you so much, and will always back you all the way 🫶 We are all looking forward to seeing you today after a whole week away!! by @active.eddie
Yay, I passed my Reformer Pilates practical assessment 🥹🤍 A whole week away might not sound like a big deal to some, but for me it really was. In fact, I almost didn’t go because the thought of being away for the week scared me so much. But somewhere along the way I reminded myself that I’ve already done much harder things than this. That I’m capable of so much more than I sometimes give myself credit for. This qualification was something I really wanted to do for me, and I’m so glad I pushed myself to go. I think one of the biggest things I’m taking away from this week is that as a mum, seasons change… and we’re allowed to change with them too. For a long time my world has needed me to be very present at home, and I wouldn’t change that. But maybe this is a little reminder to myself that there’s still room to learn new things, chase something that excites me and figure out what the next version of me looks like too. And a massive shoutout to Ed because I honestly don’t think I would have gone without his encouragement. I didn’t exactly leave him with meals prepped and the kids’ outfits laid out either 😂 I left him with four kids, dress-up days, girls’ hair to do and all the usual chaos that comes with our house. He just told me to go and backed me the whole way. He really is my biggest support and I’m very lucky to have him 🤍 Very proud that I did the scary thing. Officially Reformer Pilates qualified ✨ by @active.eddie
Got a run session in today with the big fella 🙌 Kept up with the intervals and encouraged me the whole way. How good is it to show how to live a healthy life?! We have taught each other so many things these past 18months… my champion 🫶 by @active.eddie
13. 🤍 How did we get here? From the little girl dancing around our lounge room in a princess dress, completely in her own world, to this beautiful 13-year-old who I am so incredibly proud of. There are so many things I love about you, Lex, but your smile and your laugh will forever be two of my favourites. But one of the things I admire most about you is the way you see the world. You think about everything. You notice the little details. You like to know the plan, you consider every option, you do your research and you want to make sure you get things right. You are smart, thoughtful and so incredibly reliable. And as you step into these teenage years, my wish for you is that you hold onto all of those beautiful parts of yourself, but learn that you don’t always have to get everything right. Let your guard down sometimes. Make mistakes. Change your mind. Be silly. Let people in. Let them see that beautiful, soft, nurturing side of you that we are so lucky to know. You don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be you. I hope 13 brings you big laughs, beautiful friendships, a little more freedom, lots of memories and the confidence to trust the incredible young woman you are becoming. Forever my girl. Forever that little princess dancing around our lounge room. Just now, somehow, you’re 13. 🥹🤍 Happy 13th birthday, Lexi. I love you more than you’ll ever know. xx by @active.eddie
A pretty special year for us 💙 This year we made a conscious decision as a family to really lean into our club, to put our hands up, help where we could and give something back to a place and a group of people who have given our family so much. I don’t think either Lexi or I could have imagined how the year would end. At 38 and 13, we somehow both walked away as Best & Fairest in our respective grades. 🥹 I’m not sure there will ever be another year where a mum and daughter in our family get to do that at the same time, which makes this one feel pretty special. But what I’m probably most proud of is the growth we both had along the way. We each had our own challenges, our own lessons and our own moments where we had to keep showing up, and we got to watch each other do it. To then be named Netball Person of the Year completely caught me off guard. I never helped out this year expecting recognition for it. I genuinely just wanted to contribute to a club that has become such a big part of our lives, so this one means a lot. When you live a long way from a lot of your family, you realise that sometimes you’re lucky enough to find another kind of family along the way. For us, so much of that has been found at the footy/netball club. 💙 And none of these moments happen without the people around you. Our family, teammates, coaches, friends, volunteers and all the people who backed us, helped with the kids, cheered from the sidelines and made the year what it was. I think that’s what I’ll remember most when I look back at these photos. Not just the trophies, but that we did this year together. Pretty bloody proud of us. 🥹💙 And pretty grateful for our little Gulls family. 💙🤍 by @active.eddie

Life lately ✌🏼 A bit of everything, wouldn’t have it any other way. by @active.eddie
Yesterday was your Birthday how are you 6! We spent the day doing all the fun things on our little family getaway. Your taking your cousin role very serious before they arrive hardly leaving Ozzie and Darcy’s side to teach them all the things. Your always looking for fun but inside your the biggest snuggle bug 🐞 Happy Birthday Baby Girl. by @active.eddie
STRESS - it’s a funny thing. When you’re living through it, you learn to cope. You adapt. You put one foot in front of the other and do what needs to be done. Before long, the chaos becomes routine and the stress becomes your new normal. A couple of weeks ago we had another hospital trip with Elliot after he spiked a temperature. We handled it. We did what we’ve learned to do. But since then I’ve felt unusually drained, like I’m constantly chasing my tail and never quite catching up. Maybe the reality is that the last year has taken more out of me than I realised. It’s only when life settles down a little that you get the chance to look around and recognise how much you’ve been carrying. What felt normal wasn’t really normal at all. It was just survival. One thing I’ve been reminded of lately is how important people are. I’ve had some conversations with Meg and some of my good friends that I didn’t realise I needed; atleast until I’d had them. The right people don’t solve your problems, but they make carrying them a whole lot easier. Everyone’s hard is their own hard. Everyone’s stress is their own stress. Comparing struggles never helps. What matters is recognising when the weight is getting heavy and allowing people to help carry it. I’ve often heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Maybe the part I forgot is that we’re all someone’s child. No matter how old we get, no matter how capable we appear, sometimes we all need the village too. —————————————————— The photos that go with this post are from Elliot’s first of the routine check-up appointments that he’ll have all the way through until he is 17 years old. He’s a champion!! ❤️ by @active.eddie
