It’s been a while since I’ve posted - but I would love to share an amazing update on my wonderful patient who came in initially for Alopecia Areata treatment.

We did weekly sessions for 2-3 months alongside herbal medicine prescriptions to support hair regrowth.

Alopecia is particularly a widely challenging condition to treat, so we are so happy with the results achieved all through natural therapies! 🩷💟

A 41-year-old female patient had been undergoing IVF treatment since 2021 without success. Despite multiple cycles using donor sperm, she had never progressed to the embryo freezing stage due to poor egg development—her embryos consistently failed to grow beyond day 3 or 4. Her medical history included severe endometriosis and borderline hyperthyroidism, which was being managed with prior laparoscopic surgery and ongoing Thyroxine medication.

She began acupuncture treatment with me on a weekly basis, and after just one month, there was a notable breakthrough: for the first time in three years of IVF, an embryo progressed beyond day 4 and was successfully frozen. This embryo was later transferred, resulting in a positive pregnancy test. Unfortunately, she experienced an early miscarriage.

After taking a one-month break, she resumed weekly acupuncture sessions and began a new IVF cycle. Remarkably, she retrieved 12 eggs that developed beyond the critical early stage. From this cycle, five viable embryos were created and frozen. Due to her previous miscarriage, her fertility specialist approved a double embryo transfer to increase the chance of implantation.

Leading up to the results, she experienced significant anxiety. When the day of the blood test arrived, she walked into my clinic beaming—she was pregnant. Her 7-week scan revealed two gestational sacs, confirming that both embryos had implanted and she was likely expecting fraternal twins.

Although filled with joy, she also expressed understandable fear and uncertainty. Nonetheless, she was deeply grateful for the support acupuncture provided during her journey, sharing that this was the only new intervention introduced during her years of IVF treatment.

There is growing evidence of microplastic pollution being found in all human reproductive fluid samples. This has prompted researchers into investigating how the consumption of micro and nano plastics in our everyday products is linked to the dysfunction of the maturation process of spermatogenesis— representing the shocking male infertility crisis.

Read more via link in bio.

Where it pays to avoid plastics:

❣️Foods: opt for whole natural foods instead of highly processed foods.

❣️Packaging: avoid oils, sauces & vinegar in plastic bottles, and look for glassware bottles instead. Get your daily coffee made in your stainless steel travel mug.

❣️Kitchenware: replace kitchen plastic items that are often exposed to heat with glass, stainless steel or ceramic materials.

❣️Cosmetics & personal care products: opt for fragrance free soaps and washes. Consider discontinuing the frequent use of perfumes and cologne.

The Nutritional Impact On Your Sebaceous Glands

Sebaceous filaments consist of the dead skin cells combined with oil that move from the sebaceous glands to the surface of the skin. Abnormal sebaceous filaments may appear as blackheads, whiteheads and clogged pores.

This skin disorder is caused by faulty nutrition made up what food is being consumed and the eating habits that are practiced. Our diet composition can directly affect our skin condition by modifying the individual’s nutritional status; lipid and carbohydrates metabolism, hormone levels, gut microbiome and specific immune responses. A diet of excessive refined carbohydrates and sugars (higher in glycaemic index), and oily foods can lead to thicker skin which gives the appearance of unclean skin. It also affects the function of the sebaceous glands and its secretions to the surface of the skin.

The diet that is recommended for clear skin is to increase foods lower in the glycaemic index, natural sugars in moderation and naturally occurring healthy oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, ghee or grass-fed butter. The eating habits we should avoid is eating too much raw and cold temperature foods, eating too much that it causes stomach discomfort and eating too late in the evening past 8 p.m.

Things to do in Autumn
By: @imwendyle

Wear a scarf
- Autumn is the season of wind and in Chinese medicine, wind is the cause of 100 diseases. A simple step of wearing a scarf can protect your neck from the wind and prevent attacks of viruses and bacteria that are highly contagious this flu season. Also, remember to wash your hands.

Sleep early, wake up late
- The season where earth progresses from Yang to Yin. Autumn is when everything is at a state of inward contraction. Plants and animals begin to hibernate, and we should do the same. It is the appropriate time to give yourself permission to get more sleep, and don’t exert as much energy as you did in summer.

Eat seasonally
- Dryness of the nostrils, mouth and lungs occur in Autumn from the air’s lack of moisture. Foods such as pears, broccoli, carrot, celery, pumpkin, sweet potatoes are plentiful this season and have higher water content to nourish the body fluids. Nature gives us seasonal foods to keep our Yin and Yang in harmony.

The first and often the most important tip for adapting is to identify the surrounding environmental changes. by @acupure

Women-inspired. Women-empowered. Women-diversity.

Acupure would like to celebrate International Women’s Day to all the strong females.

A woman’s body is sacred in Eastern culture because we are the bearer of fertility, and there is a huge highlight on female health in our medicine. We understand that the female body is more complicated than the male, due to our body undergoing monthly period cycles which fluctuates our hormones. It also opens the opportunity for symptoms such as PCOS, infertility, irregular periods and hormone imbalances. It is fundamental that we support and acknowledge the strength of being a woman.

From society to our physiological functions — women have faced challenges that deserve to be recognised and celebrated not just today, but everyday. 🤍

How I aspire to be this Spring 🥬 @oprah by @acupure

This is a reminder that when life demands more from us, we need just us much time to disconnect and rest.

Being responsible of what you put your energy toward is being the best version of yourself.
